教皇新堡（Chateauneuf du Pape）位於阿維尼翁市（Avignon）北部幾英里處，是羅納河谷（Rhone Valley）產區南部最著名且最重要的葡萄酒產區。教皇新堡產區得名於教皇克萊蒙五世（Pope Clement V），克萊蒙五世即位教皇後，並沒有按著傳統到梵蒂岡（Vatican）上任，而是決定將整個教廷遷往阿維尼翁，又因為這位教皇深愛葡萄酒，給這裡葡萄酒產業的發展帶來不可磨滅的功績。該產區在1933年被授予法定產區。

1931年，義大利人法蘭西斯·烏塞格裡奧（Francis Usseglio）離開義大利，前往法國的   Chateauneuf du Pape發展。並於1948年創立了自己的釀酒廠。後來，他的兒子皮埃爾（Pierre）接管並擴大了皮埃爾·烏塞格裡奧（Domaine Pierre Usseglio）的面積。從1998年起，Domaine Pierre Usseglio 由   Francis Usseglio 的孫子   Thierry Usseglio 和Jean-Pierre Usseglio 兩兄弟掌管。年輕一代接管酒莊後就進行了一系列改革，購買了優質老藤葡萄園擴大規模，葡萄園一半以上種滿樹齡超過60年的老藤，其餘平均樹齡都超過30年，釀造出令人驚歎的兩款新釀。

而   Francis Usseglio 另外一個兒子雷蒙德（Raymond）於1960年以他的名字創立了自己的酒莊Domaine Raymond Usseglio。

Domaine Pierre Usseglio & Fils Châteauneuf-du-Pape   葡萄來自 Les Esqueirrons ,  La   Bigote, Maucoil, Les Serres, Grand -Pierre , Valori,   La Crau  ,  Guigasse 葡萄園，   60-70%  葡萄除梗，3個星期於24-26 度下釀造，定時翻攪淋皮 ，50-60% 放混凝土缸，20-30%大橡木桶，20% 存在228 L的橡木桶12個月，年產3萬至5萬瓶。

A gorgeous base cuvee that oozes Grenacheflair, the 2010 Domaine Pierre Usseglio & Fils Châteauneuf-du-Pape, a blendof 70% Grenache, 20% Syrah, 5% Mourvedre, and 5% Cinsault that sees no new oak,offers up hedonistic, perfumed aromas of kirsch liqueur, cassis, roasted meats,licorice, and crushed flowers on the nose. Intense and certainly well endowed,with a full-bodied, creamy texture, brilliant purity of fruit, and a supple,approachable feel, this will no doubt benefit from short-term cellaring, andshine for 10-12 years.

The 2010 Chateauneuf du Pape Tradition, which is 70% Grenache, 20% Syrah and the rest Mourvedre and Cinsault, has a lower percentage of Grenache because at least a third of their Grenache production was wiped out due to the poor flowering in this vintage, a common characteristic of all Grenache vineyards in Chateauneuf du Pape. That also helps explain the extra level of concentration in the wines. Yields of the 2010 Tradition were only 23 hectoliters per hectare, which is almost financial suicide, but that’s Mother Nature. This is a dense wine exhibiting loads of black raspberry, blueberry, and blacker fruits than the 2009, with admirable purity, good acidity, and sweet tannin in a full-bodied, endearing style. This wine should drink well for 10-15 years.

This is electric, with charged-up, vividblueberry, fig, blackberry and boysenberry fruit all drenched in pastis andtoasted spice and backed by a licorice snap note that lets the finish flow onbeautifully. Approachable, but no need to hurry either.

Featuring bright, spicy red-fruit aromas, this is an exciting wine just to smell. Add in flavors of raspberry and cream, a lush texture, ample weight and a long-spice-driven finish, and you've got the whole package, at a realistic price. So ready and easy to drink now, it's reasonable to question its age ability, but on the other hand, why wait?

Vivid ruby. A powerful bouquet presents candied red fruits, Asian spices and a hint of potpourri. Silky and expansive, offering vibrant raspberry and cherry flavors and showing a seamless character. Closes spicy and very long, with lingering florality and impressive clarity. One of, if not the most successful "basic" Chateauneufs I've ever had from this address.

Sound red robe. The nose is rounded, withred cherry at its heart, a typical Chateauneuf sweetness and herbal-groundednotes, rocky garrigue airs. The palate sets off as rather ready now – it offerseasy access, a wholesome flavour of red fruits with a smoky buzz around them.The roundness stays with it through the palate, and the tannins have cut.
