Dominus Estate酒莊莊主Christian Moueix，隸屬於波爾多右岸 Pomerol 赫赫有名Moueix 家族，是法國 Libourne大名鼎鼎葡萄酒貿易和製造商 Jean-Pierre Moueix 的兒子。Christian Moueix 雖然是波爾多的傳奇，但他的釀酒學位是在美國加州大學在戴維斯分校獲得的。 20世紀60年代後期，當Christian Moueix 還美國加州大學在戴維斯分校上學的時候就瘋狂地迷戀上了美國納帕穀的葡萄酒。1970年，Christian回到法國，並參與管理家族葡萄酒事業，包括位於Chateau Petrus（柏圖斯酒莊）、Chateau La Fleur-Petrus (柏圖斯之花酒莊)和 Chateau Trotanoy（卓龍酒莊），Chateau Magdelaine（瑪德萊娜酒莊）。
不過 Christian對 Napa 的喜愛卻一直沒有消退過。1981年，他看中了揚特維爾（Yountville）西邊面積約為124英畝的 Napanook 葡萄園。揚特維爾在20世紀40-50年代已經是納帕谷地區主要的葡萄酒產區。1982年，他與原擁有者John Daniel 先生的兩個子女Robin Lail 以及Marcia Smith 合作，成立了Dominus Estate。Christian選擇“Dominus”作為酒莊的名字，拉丁語中的意思為「上帝的園地」。
Dominus Estate酒莊是Moueix家族在美國的第一個酒園，對其重視程度可想而知。釀酒顧問為 Petrus（柏圖斯酒莊）的釀酒師 Jean-Claude Berrouet，他自1964年起就負責柏圖斯酒莊的栽培種植工作。1983年，Dominus Estate收穫了第一批葡萄，並且一上市就迅速獲得好評。有人評價 Dominus Estate為加州的 Petrus。
Napanook 納帕努克葡萄園位於Napa Valley的西邊，Mayacamas Mountains的山麓地帶，並面對 Yountville 鎮。1836年，George Yount 先生將此地命名為 Yountville，並於 Napanook 葡萄園種下第一株葡萄藤，而後在1850年，George Yount先生便將葡萄園轉賣給Charles Hopper先生。自此之後， Napanook 葡萄園經歷了許多的擁有者，直到1982年，現任酒廠主人Christian Moueix先生入主。
葡萄園面積為103英畝，園內土壤以礫石土壤和粘土為主。 Napanook 葡萄園原本就是Napa Valley 最早的葡萄園之一，並以Cabernet Sauvignon 聞名，土壤以礫石和黏土為主，因此酒款性格與結構更強，Merlot、Cabernet Franc與 Petit Verdot 則扮演輔助的角色，正好可以發展波爾多風格的酒。
Napanook 東側有著 Vacas 山脈的屏障，且刻意不作灌溉使葡萄根系延伸更廣，以獲得更多的風土滋味，加上 Christian Moueix 對於細節有嚴格的要求，成就 Dominus Estate 優良出眾的品質。酒莊的葡萄等到完全成熟後才採收，並嚴格分類，發酵後的新酒會裝入法國橡木桶中靜存15～20個月，木桶20%-50%新。所用 Merlot 的比例每年都有所不同，最低可能僅有3%（1988年），而最高則可達到26%（1984年）。Dominus Estate 的葡萄酒顏色深黑，味道醇厚集中，單寧較重，一入口就可知出自名門之手！值得一提的是，1994年份的 Dominus Estate的 Proprietary 被評為“世紀典藏年份”。此酒獲得Robert Parker給予的99分頂級肯定，如今，多明納斯酒莊在美國市場的拍賣價節節上漲，儼然已成為加州天王級酒廠。
這款 Napanook 2013在James Suckling 2016 Napa Valley 葡萄酒 TOP100 評選中，排名No.2,僅次於Opus One。

Just as magnificent from bottle as it was in barrel, the 2013 Napanook is dense, powerful and brooding, with searing intensity and extraordinary balance. Lavender, plums, violets, licorice and smoke are some of the signatures, but the 2013 exudes finesse, power and intensity. Bracing and searing, the 2013 is going to require quite a bit of patience. If anything, this is an insane level of quality for the second selection. The 2013 could turn out to be a thirty year old wine. It is every bit that magnificent, especially if given some aeration. There are 2,000 cases of the 2013 Napanook Proprietary Red Wine, a blend of 92% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Petit Verdot and 3%Cabernet Franc. This wine reflects the much higher quality that’s emerging with the second wine of Dominus, which has really become almost its own entity.Loads of loamy soil notes, grilled herbs, meat, blackcurrants, sweet kirsch and licorice are all present in this medium to full-bodied, lush, sexy wine, even in 2013. It is interesting how much more evolved and forward the 2013 Napanook is compared to the 2013 Dominus. This wine can be drunk over the next 12-15years.

Red and black fruits, graphite, plum sauce and incipient notes of tobacco and umami introduce a nicely integrated and harmonious Napanook, the most elegant rendition of this cuvée I've encountered. While this is serious wine in its own right, it will give more immediate gratification than its grander sibling. (WK) (5/2016)
