Compania Vinicola del Norte de Espana 簡稱 C.V.N.E.，由 Eusebio 和 Raimundo Real de Asúa 兩兄弟於1897年創建，位於裏奧哈的中心城鎮 Haro，如今由第五代 Victor Urrutia 管理，是西班牙老牌明星酒莊，曾經的 Corona 1939 和 Vina Real Gran Reserva 1959 摘得 Parker 100滿分。集團在 Rioja 裏奧哈產區擁有四間酒莊，擁有545公頃葡萄園，分別是位於 Rioja Alta 上里奧哈的創始酒莊 CVNE，Rioja Alavesa 產區的 Vina Real 和推行單一園概念的精緻酒莊 Contino 以及2013年取得 Wine Spectator 百大酒莊第一名的 Imperial，每間酒莊皆代表了西班牙歷史的一部分，各有特色，獨樹一格。當中知名度最高是西班牙家喻戶曉的著名品牌 Imperial，佔地 28公頃，陳年能力極強，與 Vina Real 是當地最長壽的酒之一，從1920年就已上市，首席釀酒師 Maria Larrea 在法國 Montpellie r深研釀酒學，他把 Imperial 形容為“最好的葡萄來自最好的葡萄園”，葡萄種植於上里奧哈富含鐵質的黏土和石灰岩，只專注釀造 reserva & gran reserva，在 Escapement 雜誌專訪表示釀造 Made in a fresh, elegant, complex and structured style, Imperial has a wonderful capacity for ageing.
The 2007 Imperial Gran Reserva is again a great wine in the making. Red fruit and plenty of spices (nutmeg), the palate shows great acidity and abundant tannins that need resolving with time in bottle. Great tension and nerve. I think it will take some time to be released, which is good as it will require some patience.

Brilliant ruby-red. Complex, highly perfumed scents of red fruit preserves, vanilla, woodsmoke and sandalwood, with a sexy floral quality in the background. Quite concentrated for the vintage, offering sweet red and dark berry flavors firmed by a spine of minerality. Closes smooth, broad and spicy, with outstanding focus and fine-grained tannins. While one could enjoy this wine immensely right now, my guess is that it has at least a good decade-plus of life ahead of it.

Exotic, smoky aromas of blue fruits and Middle Eastern spices are proprietary to this wine. The mouthfeel is juicy but also earthy, while flavors of tobacco, mint, herbs and plum finish mellow and elegant. Although 2007 was not a good vintage in Rioja, this is a success.

This fleshy red offers blackberry, black chocolate and toasty flavors, with savory accents of black olive and tobacco. Chewy tannins and orange peel acidity provide structure. Rich for the vintage.
