Château d' Aiguilhe 與 Saint-Emilion知名頂級酒莊Château La Mondotte、Château Canon La Gaffelière、Clos de l'Oratoire 同屬 Comte von Neipperg家族，位於Côtes de Castillon和Saint Emilion之間的山坡上，可俯視Dordogne河的右岸，是波爾多最古老的酒莊之一。

　　Chateau d'Aiguilhe現在的莊園建立於13世紀，它實際上是一個擁有防禦工事的農業園。英法百年戰爭時期，酒莊的領地恰好位於當時英法兩國佔領區的邊界處，因其在戰爭中扮演著重要的角色而被兩國交替控制。之後的漫長歲月裏，Chateau d'Aiguilhe又幾經易手，最終由Stephan Von Neipperg於1998年12月收購。

　　Chateau d'Aiguilhe的葡萄園分佈於Dordogne River右岸，這裏也是Cotes de Castillon和St. Emilion產區的分界線。葡萄園面積為140公頃，其中葡萄種植面積為90公頃。葡萄園在朝南的山坡高處，日照充分，排水性好。葡萄園中的土壤上層為石灰質黏土和砂礫，薄而貧瘠，土壤下層為石灰岩。此外，土壤中富含礦物質，賦予了產區葡萄酒細膩的口感與強勁的酒力，和諧完美。葡萄園種植的葡萄品種有80%為Merlot，20%為Cabernet Franc，葡萄樹的平均樹齡為28年。

　　在葡萄成熟的季節，葡萄園採用人工的方式採摘葡萄，然後用小筐將葡萄分裝運回酒莊，對葡萄進行分揀、去梗，再次分揀，在這個過程中儘量保持葡萄完好不破皮。酒莊根據葡萄採摘年份的不同，會將葡萄放入裝有溫控系統的木質酒槽中發酵25~30天，並採用壓冒的方式溫和萃取葡萄皮中的風味物質。釀制出的葡萄酒貯存在橡木桶中進行蘋果酸乳酸發酵和熟成，熟成時間為15~20個月。酒莊會依據需要對葡萄酒進行澄清和過濾。

A sleeper of the vintage as well as a great bargain, this effort from Stefan von Neipperg’s empire is a blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc. Like so many of his wines, the grapes are hand-harvested in small plastic containers, there is strict temperature control, a month-long maceration, a Burgundian punch down (pigeage), malolactic takes place in oak, and the wine is aged sur-lie. An inky/purple color is followed by a beautiful bouquet of crushed rocks, black raspberries, and blueberries, sensational intensity, sweet, but high tannins, good acidity, and amazing length, especially for a wine of this pedigree. It should drink nicely for a decade.

Full, saturated medium ruby. Brooding aromas of crushed blackberry, kirsch, violet and licorice. Sweet on entry, then concentrated and lively, with ripe, integrated acidity framing the crushed black fruit flavors. This fruit bomb really spreads out to saturate the palate. Finishes with broad, sweet tannins and lovely energy. Its slightly high-toned quality gives it immediate appeal and lift, but it also has the balance to offer pleasure over the next seven or eight years. An outperformer in this vintage.
