"A bigger and more generous wine than the others. In my view Hautes Maiziéres is one of the best village vineyards in Vosne-Romanée, as it compliments the complexity found in La Combe Brulée with more weight and body. The bouquet is quite open and bursting with generous red and dark fruit – more forward and openly knit than La Montagne – with a nice spicy minerality – slightly perfumed with hints of lavender and peony rose. On the palate plenty of fruit – very juicy offering a lot of verve and energy – will provide delightful drinking (and does indeed drink well already) – but give it 10 years in the cellar to unfold. In my view a level up from the other three .. Very Good+ (89 – 90p)."

Domaine Bruno Clavelier位於法國勃艮第Cote de Nuits的Vosne-Romanee(沃恩-羅曼尼)產區。該產區以出產世界上最優秀、最昂貴的黑皮諾葡萄酒著稱,著名的Romanee Conti就來自該產區。

  Domaine Bruno Clavelier成立於18世紀晚期。1935~1955年,酒莊遭受了根瘤蚜、霜黴病和白粉病等災害,發展受阻,之後在Joseph Brosson的帶領下才逐漸發展起來。1935年,酒莊由Antoine Clavelier經營,Antoine對品質的追求使得酒莊名氣大振。1987年,酒莊由Antoine的兒子Bruno Clavelier接手。Bruno曾經是一名橄欖球運動員,後進入第戎大學學習釀酒。他不僅對當地的地理、氣候瞭若指掌,還對葡萄栽培技術和法國橡木特性有所研究,學識非常廣博。Bruno運用自己的聰明才智將酒莊帶入勃艮第頂級葡萄酒的行列。2003年,他的妻子Valerie加入酒莊。

Domaine Bruno Clavelier的葡萄園分佈在Vosne-Romanee、Chambolle-Musigny、Corton-Rognet和Nuits-Saint-Georges等產區。葡萄園中的葡萄樹是在1930~1940年根瘤蚜爆發後重新種植的,多為樹齡80年以上的老藤Pinot Noir。這些老藤Pinot Noir的產量十分有限,且紮根較深,能夠充分吸收土壤中的礦物質。葡萄園採用傳統方法和生物動力法栽培葡萄,僅使用少量有機肥料。此外,葡萄園利用含雌蛾費洛蒙的膠囊干擾蛾類繁殖,以減少蟲害,避免使用殺蟲劑。


  酒莊的釀酒理念是,儘量減少人為干預,使葡萄酒完美地詮釋出產地的風土特色。在葡萄收穫的季節,採用人工的方式挑選並採摘葡萄。採收的葡萄用小筐分裝運回酒窖進行二次篩選,依據各葡萄園的特點和年份好壞的不同大約有5~20%的葡萄會被整串保留,其餘的則會進行去梗。然後將葡萄倒入圓錐橡木桶中,採用人工的方式溫和壓榨,以萃取葡萄皮中的風味物質。葡萄的發酵過程持續3周左右,每天需定時監控葡萄酒的溫度,頻率為一天兩次。發酵完成後的葡萄酒則需貯存在產自法國Troncais和Allier地區的橡木桶中熟成16~18個月。最後根據時節及天氣狀況,選定時間在酒窖進行葡萄酒裝瓶。且裝瓶前不進行過濾和澄清,裝瓶後需向瓶中注入惰性氣體,以最大限度地保留葡萄酒的香氣。

  Domaine Bruno Clavelier推出的葡萄酒有Vosne-Romanee La Combe Brulee、Vosne-Romanee Les Hautes Maizieres Vieilles Vignes和Aux Brulees Vieilles Vignes等,獲獎頗多。



🏅 Burghound - Allen Meadows 89-91 pts
This possesses a fascinating nose because while there are the expected spice, floral and dark berry fruit scents, there is also a hint of garrigue present. The caressing yet muscular flavors possess more weight and volume before concluding in a relatively powerful and generously proportioned finale. This isn't as fine as either of its two Vosne villages counterparts but it is slightly more complex and persistent. Note that this too should drink well young if desired.

The 2014 Vosne Romanée Hautes Mazières has a pretty, lightly spiced bouquet that is the most complex of Clavelier's village crus this year. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, crisp and tensile, lively from the start with fine precision all the way through to the finish. This is well worth looking out for.


Following on from my recent report on Bruno Clavelier's 2013s, it was time to return to his domaine on the RN74 and descend down to his tasting room, furnished with rock fragments from across his vineyards so that the terroir is right in front of you. You don't just look at those rocks, there various pigmentations -- you hold them in the palm of your hand and then Bruno invites you to smell them. All very educational. Bruno told me that he suffered some outbreak of drosophila suzukii at the end of August and so had to cut away any affected bunches in the vineyard. The harvest commenced on September 12 and finished on September 18, the fruit cropped at 30 hectoliters per hectare. The wines are generally a little more fruit-driven in style than some of his contemporaries in Vosne, a little more lush and the fruit darker. Yet Bruno managed to obtain some lovely, fresh and vibrant fruit that for me, reach their zenith with his Nuits-Saint-Georges Aux Cras (incidentally, one of my favorite vineyards within that appellation).


🏅 Vinous 88-90 pts

(from clay-based soil): Aromas of red berries and spices accented by a garrigue quality. Intense flavors of strawberry, raspberry, spices and wild herbs are framed by brisk, well-integrated acidity. In a more masculine style than the Combe Brûlée, with rather strong tannins currently cutting off the finish. The wine's restrained sweetness is nicely buffered by its spine of acidity. This well-structured village wine shows excellent potential.
