Chateau Chasse Spleen 忘憂堡是1932年第一代成為 Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel(僅 6 家入選),是中級莊的塔尖。到2003 年波爾多中級名莊首次進行官方評選,正式被評為特級中級名莊;後來中級莊不再進行細分,以忘憂堡、Poujeaux 寶捷為首的特級中級名莊霸氣退出了評選。
酒莊於1560年已建成,在1860 年時正式改名為 Chateau Chasse-Spleen,有解作「忘憂」的意思。幾經易主之後直到二十世紀70年代,由豐富經驗的 Merlaut 家族收購,將酒莊的水準再次推上高峰;90年代後期第三代莊主更新設備和釀造風格,酒質表現表現更上層樓。
數十年的成長保證了卓越且穩定的酒質並在業界建立了自己的品牌形象,即使如今的2020中級莊評選中沒有他的身影,而在波爾多眾多酒莊之中,其名氣早已遠大於很多中級甚至列級酒莊,就連知名的酒評家 Robert Parker也對其稱讚有加,甚至直言它有波爾多三級莊的價值。
酒莊位處於 Moulis 區之內,而 Moulis 區則位於 St. Julien 和 Margaux 之間。平均樹齡 30年,以碎石、黏土和白堊土的土壤種植密度為8000~10000株,人手採收之後在不銹鋼和混凝土的發酵罐中發酵,隨後在橡木桶陳熟12~14個月(40%為新桶)。
帶有寶石紅酒色,入口帶黑醋栗、甘草、可哥、黑櫻桃、桑葉及辛香料味道。結構平衡,單寧幼細而成熟、口感圓潤飽滿、良好餘韻、集中度高。

91-93 Barrel sample. Great, spicy new woodflavors are balanced by the intense, solid fruits and deep, almost broodingtannins. This is a big wine, but it still preserves a good sense of proportion.

Tasted at BBR’s 2005/2009 tasting inLondon. The nose is closed at the moment with touches of wet tobacco, autumnleave, black fruits, wild hedgerow and tar. The palate is medium-bodied withfine tannins, very precise and refined with a brooding intensity on the finish.The palate is far more promising that the nose at the moment, but this is astylish Chasse Spleen that has stepped up the plate since a couple of yearsago. Tasted July 2011.

Dark crimson. Rather open, leafy nose withgood lift. Lots of alcohol. Broad and sweet and a bit like stewed raspberries.Not unpleasant if not exactly classic. Fine tannins and lots of fruit andtherefore a pleasing whole. Relatively relaxed and unforced, though prettypinched tannins on the end. Quite concentrated palate with a dry finish afterripe fruit. Still embryonic - more youthful than many of its peers. Serious,very dry. Baby classed growth… Drink 2012-20.
