國王手下的年輕貴族 Jacquesde Bergeron1720530日在 Saint-Julien de Reignac 教堂裡迎娶了葡萄園的女繼承人Marie Dejean。祖籍貝阿恩的活躍商人Bertrand Ducru 經營著自己的貿易公司,後於1797年收購了莊園。而 Beaucaillou 解作美麗的石頭,酒莊名稱就是由創園莊主名稱加上園內特色而成Chateau Ducru-Beaucaillou。他對梅多克酒的熱愛之情促使他為酒窖和葡萄園投入了大量的人力和物力,在 1855 年分級的激烈競爭中,寶嘉龍表現出色,被列為波爾多的二級名莊。

幾經易手,1942年,Francis Borie 以終身租賃的方式從 Fernand Odon Desbarats de Burke 手中接管寶嘉龍。家族在波爾多還有 Grand Puy LascoteHaut Batailley 酒莊。Jean-Eugène 子承父業,為葡萄園和酒窖展開細緻的重修工程。致使寶嘉龍的聲譽在此段時期上升到波爾多的頂峰水準。酒莊由1953開始就聘用了被譽為偉大的釀酒師之一 Emile Peynaud作酒莊顧問。1998年,在著名葡萄酒評論家Robert Parker對波爾多名莊的分級中,寶嘉龍和拉菲、拉圖等並列一級酒莊,自此酒莊也得到了一個非官方的「超二級莊」頭銜。而寶嘉龍正牌算是最後一批將葡萄酒置於100%新桶中陳釀18個月的酒莊之一,從而令酒體得以保持50年乃至更長的陳釀能力,即是短時間的內都未到時候享用,而 La Croixde Beaucaillou (副牌),從1995年開始在莊園裝瓶,之前會以散裝賣給波爾多酒商。根據年份來決定20%~40%的新木桶陳釀,熟成時間為12個月,而現時新年份副牌酒已改為黑色酒標。

This wine has structure and dense tannins that come from the dominant Cabernet Sauvignon. Black-currant flavors are layered within the ripe structure of a fruity wine with a great future.

Intense and pure aromas of blueberries and cassis here,. The palate has a smooth, fine-edged core of tannin and a good build of rich fruit flavor. Some graphite to the black fruit. A blend of 58% merlot, 39% cabernet sauvignon and 3% petit verdot. Second wine of Château Ducru-Beaucaillou.

It has a great nose of creme de cassis, crushed rock, lead pencil, and dried herbs. This gives way to a medium to full-bodied, elegant wine that has silky tannins, a great mid-palate, and bright acidity.

The 2017 La Croix Ducru-Beaucaillou is bold, juicy and super expressive. A rush of blackberry jam, chocolate, licorice and spice all build in a Saint-Julien loaded with resonance and volume. Readers will have a hard time keeping their hands off this jewel of a wine.

Inky black colour. Very deep chalky tannins, spices and rich black fruit. Very intense. Rich and juicy black fruit. Juicy and intense and sweet black fruit. Very good indeed. Super rich finish.

The 2017 La Croix de Beaucaillou has quite a spicy nose sporting cloves, anise, black pepper and fenugreek with a core of crushed blackberries and black currants plus wafts of underbrush and potpourri. The palate is medium-bodied with firm, grainy tannins and great freshness supporting the vivacious fruit, finishing long and earthy.

Inviting, featuring crushed loganberry and plum fruit flavors, mixed with warm anise and black tea notes. A solid graphite spine runs through the finish.

A clear step up in richness, polish and texture. 80% new oak at this point. In these kind of vintages though, it is noteworthy that you have to climb this high to really be assured of getting a bottle that impresses and that lives up to the expectations of the appellation and château. Lovely damson fruits here. Will be ready to drink earlier than the monumental 2016, but you are getting a slick, well defined wine with plenty of great fruit. There is an austerity at this point, in that you feel the tannins closing in towards the finish, but this is the one I would happily recommend.

Deep crimson. Again that scented cherry fruit that I tasted in Lalande Borie with just a hint of char. Savoury as well as sweet-fruited – definite red fruit on the silky mid palate. Firmer on the finish but lots of fruit in the middle and a long, juicy, fresh finish. Fine tannins and just a hint of chocolate-sweet tannins on the finish.
