PRESENTATION

Abadal was born with the illusion of nurturing and enhancing Bages’ enormous potential as a wine region. Abadal’s wines transmit the spirit and personality of Bages. The winery has been rooted in the tradition of wine production for over eight centuries, and its innovative spirit keeps it very much alive. Abadal wines are expressive and authentic, and evoke sensations that emerge from the wooded landscape that surrounds the winery.

Authenticity

With a desire to reflect the identity of our territory and our unique wooded landscape, at Abadal we value native varieties as they acquire their maximum expression in their native land. Picapoll, Mandó and Sumoll are living examples of the spirit of our region. They bring a unique character to our wines. They are the purest expression of territory.

WINERY

Holly oak, oak and pine trees live in complete harmony alongside our vines; they are vibrantly expressed in our wines, and enhance them with unique, subtle tones.

Our vineyards are distributed on terraces at different levels. They are nourished by a terrain of clay and calcareous stone, and they are surrounded by forest which leaves its mark in our wines. The result is expressiveness and complexity. The vineyards are immersed in a unique microclimate that is a mix of Mediterranean and continental, with a marked temperature oscillation between day and night.

In our search for purity in our wines, and in our mission to stay true to Bages’ unique personality, at Abadal we use fruit from the best vineyards on our estate and we combine traditional winemaking techniques with avant-garde concepts.

It is in the vineyard, after all, where our wines are born and defined.

At Abadal, we are aware of how lucky we are to be able to dedicate our lives to follow our passion; vine growing and winemaking. Not only that, we work among vines set in a beautiful landscape surrounded by forest. Every day, we work hard and enthusiastically to transfer the beauty and values of our land to our wine. At Abadal -since we first started making wine-, we have led the way in innovation, while continuing to cultivate traditional methods left to us by our ancestors. We now lead research projects, which study the recovery of native varieties from the Bages region. At Abadal, we are committed to the future, yet we never forget our past.
