Founded in 2014, Basque Moonshiners is a micro-distillery. Each of our distillates is hand-crafted with care, placing an emphasis on every detail. Batches are no greater than 1,100 bottles, manually numbered by Master Distiller Juan Carlos Ortíz de Zárate.

We follow our own way because it is handmade from beginning to end.

We obtain our base alcohol from potatoes. We distil, filter and bottle vodka to yield full flavour and maximum quality.

The distillery, headed by the old pot-still in which the Basque Moonshiners first produced their homemade liqueurs, will soon host new creations with moonshiner philosophy: quality products, new to the market and handcrafted.

Basque Moonshiners is located in the Basque Country of Spain. The aboriginal language, clothing, customs and even looks are very different from the nearby provinces. The land has a long tradition of winemaking, and the unique whisky culture has been nurtured between the mountains and the sea. .

The three founders of Basque Moonshiners have always dreamed of it. They all grew up in the same village. Guodu has a distillery built during the Spanish Civil War. Finally realized the dream of owning my own winery and showing my ambition

Basque Moonshiners focuses on the use of local ingredients and represents the "Agot Single Malt Basque Whisky". In addition to bourbon barrels, this wine is matured in Rioja Alavesa (Rioja Alavesa, a local wine region in Spain) wine barrels. . In addition to whisky, Basque Moonshiners also produces absinthe, gin, vodka and potato liqueur, and is a leader among Spanish whisky distilleries.

In 2020, Agot Whiskey won the honor of "Best Spanish Single Malt Whisky" in the World Whisky Awards, and officially launched its name.
