Like many Bordeaux estates, Château La Bergue takes its name from the Grosse family, one of its early owners. The Grosse family's connection to this land dates back to the 14th century. For centuries before the French Revolution, Château La Bergue was a large estate. In fact, it was one of the larger estates in the Médoc region at the time.

The vineyard spans 53 hectares, planted with 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc, and 2% Petit Verdot. The proportion of Merlot has increased. The vineyard area has also expanded from its previous 36 hectares to 53 hectares.
The vineyard planting density is 9,000 vines per hectare. The average age of these vines is 30 years. However, Château La Bergue also possesses some old-vine parcels.
A significant portion of the vineyard was planted in the 1950s, with some vines exceeding 100 years of age. The terroir consists primarily of gravel, clay, sand, and some sand mixed with limestone.
Located in the northern part of Margaux, the vineyard can be divided into three main sections. The finest plots lie closest to the estate, featuring the highest elevation and deepest gravel soils. Another section, planted with Merlot, lies on the opposite side of the D2 highway.

The wines of Château Labège are aged in concrete tanks and stainless steel vats. Malolactic fermentation occurs both in tanks and large vats. The wine is aged in French oak barrels, 50% of which are new, for an average of 15 months.

A tight, compact Labégorce with blackcurrant, walnut and some graphite. It’s medium-to full-bodied with a solid core of tannins and fruit. Some lead pencil. Very structured for this estate.
