Winery

Chateau Lafon-Rochet in Saint-Estephedates back to the middle of the 17th Century, and like most producers inBordeaux it was named after the owners of the time. Today it is owned by theTesseron family and run by Basile Tesseron. Lafon-Rochet was awarded FourthGrowth status in 1855, and after a slump in quality in the 1970s, it hasimproved vastly and is worthy once again of its status.

Region

The 45 hectares of vineyards are in almost onesingle parcel with three soil types - limestone, marl and clay - and is plantedin 57% Cabernet Sauvignon, 37% Merlot, 4% Petit Verdot and 3% Cabernet Franc.

Tasting comment

The nose of our 2005 is complex and fresh withnotes of blackberry and spices (nutmeg and white pepper). Lafon-Rochet 2005 isjust beginning to reveal its wonders almost 10 years after being bottled. Inthe mouth, excellent tannic structure leads to a long and elegant finish. Avintage that requires patience and should be drunk between 2020 and 2030.
