CHÂTEAU CLINET

Discreet but well established, Château Clinet, recognizable by its red shutters and its pretty matching roses, sits on the heights of the famous plateau, in the heart of Pomerol. The property is attached to one of the oldest vineyards in the appellation, dating back to 1595, but also one of the most renowned, known for the incomparable character and quality of its wines.

A great name implies great responsibilities: honoring this ancestral heritage and continuing the work of men of the past, with the greatest respect. Preserve the essence of Clinet, a true philosophy: man in harmony with Nature and the gratitude of receiving this wonderful gift from Earth.

RONAN LABORDE

A marathon runner in his spare time, Ronan Laborde, talented and determined in everything he does, used to pushing the limits, leads by example. In 2004, he took over the management of Château Clinet, a family property since 1999. Ronan and the entire Clinet team have invested in major transformations over the years: replanting, development of eco-responsible pipes, construction of new production infrastructure and reorganization of the distribution of Clinet wines.

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2017 Clinet opens slowly to reveal vibrant red and black fruits: red currants, black cherries, plums and cassis with touches of roses, yeast extract, wood smoke and crushed rocks. Medium-bodied with firm, grainy tannins and a taut, muscular palate of tightly wound fruits and compelling mineral accents, it finishes long with wonderful purity and fragrant earth accents.

A fresh and fruity Clinet with tangy acidity highlighting the plum and cherry character. Reserved style. Medium body, creamy tannins and a delicious finish. Linear and focused in general. Needs a year or two to calm down.

The 2017 Clinet was bottled at the end of june 2019. lt has a moreunderstated bouquet than the 2015 or 2016. Tightly wound, brambly blackfruit with traces of pressed violet and iodine, gradually open with orangerind notes. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannins. This is classic instyle, firm grip and a little rigid in its youth, although it will flesh out withbottle age.l admire both the freshness and salinity in this Clinet,especially its linearity on the finish. Excellent. (13.2% alcohol)
