Winery

Clos des Lunes was launched on the market in 2012. In the autumn of 2011, Olivier Bernard, the old owner of Domaine de Chevalier, one of the three giants in the Grave region of France, bought Bordeaux, France. Chateau Haut Capane in the Sauternes district was immediately renamed Clos des Lunes. Clos des Lunes originally meant vineyards under the moon. The name came from a Mid-Autumn full moon night. After Olivier Bernard ended the Mid-Autumn Festival activities ( Fete de la Lune), I came up with this poetic name because of my feelings on the way home. It also symbolizes the Mid-Autumn Festival "Moon Festival" and the time of grape harvest.。

Region

When the winery was acquired, there were only 27 hectares of vineyards, which were later expanded to 45 hectares. Each hectare is planted with 6,500 grape vines, with an average age of about 30 years. 70% are planted with white grapes Semillon and 30% are planted with white grapes Sauvignon Blanc. The vineyard is fully organically grown, and the soil is a mixture of gravel, clay and sandy soil. It is located near the famous wineries Chateau d'Yquem and Chateau Guiraud. Although it is located in the Sauternes region, the wine produced does not meet the legal standards for noble rot wine, so the wine label is printed with AOC Bordeaux. Clos des Lunes “Lune d’Argent” (Silver Moon) is a blend of 25% wine aged in new French oak barrels and the remaining 75% aged in stainless steel barrels for 6 to 7 months. The annual output is only 6,500 boxes.

Rating

Taste: Appearance is light golden yellow. Intense and complex aromas of exotic white fruits and citrus fruits, interspersed with dried white flowers. The palate is rich, full-bodied, fruity and intense. The fruitiness of the Sauvignon perfectly encapsulates the sweetness of the ripe Semillon (lychee, mango). The sense of minerality goes back and forth between the two tongues, making the overall expression fruity and refreshing.
