Clos Rene 2015 Pomerol《ZF185B》

The Clos Rene winery is located in the Pomerol appellation of the Bordeaux region in France and is one of the oldest wineries in this region. The earliest historical record of Clos Rene Winery can be traced back to the 18th century. The winery was established in 1734, and the foreign name adopted at that time was "Reney". In 1880, Chateau Clos Rene made a slight modification to the wine label design, adding the original architectural drawing of the chateau to the label design. In the 1940s, for a considerable period of time, the winery was owned by Pierre Lasserre, who was responsible for its operation and management. Today, the Clos Rene winery is jointly owned by the Garde family and the Lasserre family.

Clos Rene winery is one of the latest wineries in the Pomerol region to start bottling on its own. In the early 20th century, many wineries in the Pomerol region would place their finished wines in large-capacity oak barrels, transport them to specialized bottling sites, and then have them bottled by specialized bottling merchants. By 1970, this practice had largely vanished from people's sight, and in its place, various wineries began to bottle their own bottles within the wineries. It was not until the mid-to-late 1990s that the Clos Rene winery began to implement bottling within the winery.

The current vineyard area of Clos Rene Winery is 12 hectares. Among them, 70% of the land is used for Merlot, 20% is for Cabernet Franc, and 10% is for Malbec. This 10% of Malbec planting area makes Clos Rene Winery the largest Malbec grower in Pomerol and even the right bank region of Bordeaux. The average age of these grapes in the vineyard is 35 years, and the planting density is 5,500 plants per hectare. The soil in the garden is mainly gravel and sandy loam, and it contains some iron minerals.

James Suckling 94
Wow. Gorgeous aromas of perfume, spices and dark fruits such as bramble berries. Full body, ultra-fine tannins and a long, flavorful finish. Shows strength with finesse. Give it three or four years to come completely together but beautiful already.
Wine Advocate 91-93
A blend of 70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and 10% Malbec, the 2015 Clos Rene has a perfumed raspberry preserve and crushed strawberry-scented bouquet. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grain tannin, a mixture of red and black fruit with a very refined, pastille-like, spicy finish. This is a lovely Pomerol to enjoy over the next 10-15 years, certainly one of the best offerings from the sandier soils on the western sector of the appellation.
