Chateau Fonplegade is located in the Saint-Emilion region of Bordeaux, France, and is one of the Grand Cru Classe wineries of Saint-Emilion.

Fonplegade means "spring of abundance" and is derived from a clear spring in the winery's vineyards in the 13th century. For hundreds of years, the springs here have quenched the thirst of passing pilgrims and provided water for the winery's vines in the driest years. In 1852, wine merchant Jean-Pierre Beylot bought Château Fonteyn and built a magnificent and elegant castle here. In 2004, Denise Adams and Stephen Adams were deeply attracted by the winery's unique terroir, long history and magnificent architecture and decided to buy the winery. They spent 15 years carefully transforming the winery, greatly improving the vineyard's growing environment and comprehensively updating the wine cellar and winemaking equipment. In addition, they also hired the world-renowned "flying winemaker" Michel Rolland as a winemaking consultant.

The vineyard of Château Fonteyon is located on the slope in the southwest of Saint-Emilion, covering an area of ​​approximately 18.4 hectares. Its unique geographical location and abundant sunlight make it one of the best vineyards in Saint-Emilion. The winery divides the vineyards into 27 plots, allowing each plot to develop the uniqueness of its terroir. The vineyard is planted with Merlot and Cabernet Franc; the soil is mainly clay and limestone, with a porous rock layer that allows the vines to take root deeply and absorb nutrients and minerals. The average age of the vines in the vineyard is 30 years, and the oldest vines are up to 75 years old. In addition, the winery adopts organic farming and biodynamic methods to manage its vineyards and obtained organic certification in 2013.
