Bernard Magrez is undoubtedly a marketing expert in the wine industry. He used his own name to build a world-class fine wine brand. The group owns Chateau La Tour Carnet, a fourth-class growth in Haut Médoc, Chateau Pape Clement in Pessac-Leognan, and Chateau Fombrauge in Saint Emilion, as well as more than 40 wineries around the world. Each wine is printed with his own mark and a printed autograph on the back label. Bernard Magrez did not come from a Bordeaux winemaking family. He started working for a wine merchant at the age of 20 and later founded his own company. He made his first fortune by selling barreled port and low-end wines. He also ran a juice brand, which ultimately failed. In the 1970s, he began to acquire wineries. By the 1969, At the age of 18, he sold the wine company he had run for most of his life and focused on acquiring businesses and running fine wineries. While he may appear to be a money-minded businessman, he was actually a master of the wine world. His unique vision often turned everything he acquired into gold, reviving declining or poorly managed wineries. The quality and reputation of his estates skyrocketed under his watch. While he often muttered, "Never give up," he built his fine wine empire and propelled his career to the pinnacle. While most people consider sixty or seventy a time to enjoy a comfortable retirement, for Bernard Magrez, this was the spring of his wine career. Fourth-Grand Growth La Tour Carnet, formerly known as Chateau de Saint Laurnet, dates back to the 12th century. Due to wars, phylloxera, and the winery's numerous changes of ownership, it achieved classification in 1855, but its wines' quality and reputation failed to improve, and it began to decline. It was not until 1999 that it was acquired by Bernard Magrez, who integrated it into his wine empire. Continuous investment, coupled with the work of oenologist consultant Michel Rolland, has restored its luster. In recent years, it has been performing at a breakneck pace, earning even renowned wine critic Bernard Burtschy a special mention for its value. Chateau La Tour Carnet is one of the few Left Bank wineries that prioritizes Merlot in its blends, offering aromas of red fruit, licorice, and vanilla. The palate is rich and well-balanced, with slightly astringent tannins adding a lingering finish.

The 2021 La Tour Carnet is a beautiful, expressive wine. Lifted aromatics convey freshness in a mid-weight TourCarnet that is all class. Crushed red berry fruit, mint, white pepper, rose petal and blood orange give this effusiveHaut-Médoc tons of charm. This is one of the hidden gems of the year.
