Chateau Lalande Borie was created in 1970when Jean-Eugene Borie bought 30 hectares of vines from classed growthLagrange. It now consists of 25 hectares planted with 65% cabernet sauvignon,25% merlot and 10% cabernet franc. 20 to 30% of each vintage is matured in newoak, and though the vines are situated among the Saint-Julien cru classés it isdesigned to be a wine that is ready to drink comparatively early, though itbenefits enormously from the care taken by the team from classed growth ChâteauDucru-Beaucaillou.

The wine is dense with great fruit and accompanying structure. With its dark ripe berry fruits and full tannins, the wine is powerful although with great elegance. It is stylish, full of complexity ready to age well.

Lots of blackberry, nut and chocolate character. Some wet earth, too. Medium to full body, velvety tannins and a light, herbal finish.

The 2014 Lalande-Borie is an attractive, midweight Saint-julien from Bruno Borie. Dark blue/purplish fruit, spicelavender and licorice are all laced into the soft, refreshing finish. This is in a decidedly understated stvle, relative boto the vintage and to Borie's other 2014s.
