Onikishi's name comes from the Japanese words "Oni" (demon) and "Kishi" (knight). Japan’s cultural heritage comes from centuries of mysticism and epic legends. According to the legend, Izanami and Izanagi created this vibrant country with their hands from the darkness. Produced in Hyogo Prefecture, home to Mount Kasagata where the clear spring water of the Noma River flows. This is also the birthplace of Japan. In mythology, Izanami and Izanagi created the world's first island starting from the Jingo Shrine, which is close to Awaji Island. Japanese whiskey is made in a very similar way to Scotch whiskey, with the malt ground, fermented, mashed, distilled, and aged in oak barrels. Japanese whiskey is usually matured in bourbon or sherry casks, but is sometimes aged for a period in Japanese Mizunara oak casks, adding additional spice, sandalwood and coconut aromas.
