The product of an excpetional terrior, Pastourellede Clerc Milon is the second wine of Chateau Clerc Milon an 1855 ClassifiedGrowth at Pauillac

The pastourelle is a traditional dancewhich evokes a knight’s romantic encounter with a shepherdess: the name echoesthe pair of dancers that adorn the label of the Grand Vin. Made of gold, enameland pearls, this precious miniature from the Museum of Wine in Art at ChateauMouton Rothschild belonged to Catherine II, the empress of Russia, and isinspired by characters of the Commdeia dell’ Arte. Baroness Philippine deRothschild chose it as the Clerc Milon emblem because of her love of thetheatre.A round and supple wine, Pastourelle de ClercMilon charms with the elegant richness of its aromas and flavours. It is also livingtestimony to the considerable improvements in quality that have been achievedat the property since the arrival of Baron Philippe and his descendants.Made from grapes grown in the vineyard ofthe famous Classified Growth, it is vinified and bottled with the same meticulouscare: the grapes are harvested in small crates and the wine is fermented in theClerc Milon vat-room and matured in oak barrels in the traditional way. All theconditions are in place to obtain the elegance and richness of a great Pauillac

2009 was the first vintage of Pastourellede Clerc Milon, whose label shows Chateau Clerc Milon’s two dancers. 

The wine is a deep garnet red with crimson highlights, the radiant nose release a rich & complex bouquet in which aromas of black fruit preserved in spirits combine with chocolate notes and the scent of dried flowers. The succulent and smooth attach leads into a mid-palate which unfolds a lovely texture underpinned by concentrated, silky and deep tannins. The wine is well-structred overall, with fullness and helf on the palate, delivering spice and liquorice flavours on the finish.
