Prieuré-Lichine Built on an ecclesiastical residence from the Romanesque period, the Château Prieuré-Lichine offers a historic stopover on the Châteaux du Médoc route in Cantenac, in the heart of the Margaux appellation. Its wine production is one of the oldest in the region. From the beginning, the Prieuré wine conquered the parishioners of Saint-Didier de Cantenac. The successive owners of the Château have contributed, over the centuries, to its qualitative progress. Like a domain imbued with a remarkable plurality of eras and styles, the Château Prieuré-Lichine vineyard is made up of a constellation of plots characteristic of the Margaux terroirs, with a mosaic of soils spread over the 5 municipalities of the appellation. Products of an unparalleled geological past, the soils here are essentially composed of gravel - conglomerates of pebbles, gravel, sands and clayey sediments - deposited by the river during the glacial debacles of the Quaternary. The Günz Garonne gravel terraces, remarkably preserved and with unequaled drainage properties, are the basis of the exception of the Margalais terroir.
