Chateau Rauzan Gassies 2020 Margaux 375ml《ZFH179》

Château Rauzan-Gassies is part of the vast Rauzan estate. In 1661, Pierre des Mezures de Rauzan, a prominent figure in the Médoc region, established the Rauzan estate in his own unique way. At the peak of the Rauzan family's influence, they simultaneously owned Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande, Château Pichon Longueville Baron, and the Rauzan estate, a testament to their illustrious status.

Château Rauzan-Gassies boasts 28.5 hectares of vineyards, with 60% surrounding the château and the rest located on the edges of Château Margaux, Château Palmer, and Château Lascombes. The vineyard soil consists of deep gravel, sandy gravel, and mixed sandy soil. A series of small plots along the old riverbed of the Garonne River make the terrain highly varied, encompassing almost all soil types found in the Médoc. The wines of Château Rauzan-Gassies tend to be robust and full-bodied, lacking the delicate aromas typically associated with Margaux wines. They combine power with finesse while faithfully expressing the complexity of their terroir. However, they are notably rich and intense. In most vintages, the wines of Château Rauzan-Gassies mature at an astonishing rate, often reaching their peak in just ten years. In the best vintages, these wines can even be aged for over half a century.

After harvest, optical sorting is employed, and fermentation takes place in stainless steel and concrete tanks. The wine is then aged in French oak barrels, with approximately 40% being new oak, for about 12 months. The wines of Château Rauzan-Gassies exhibit the typical elegance and refinement of the Margaux appellation.

Aromas of tobacco, spice, earth and dark berries follow through to a full body with polished and velvety tannins, savory fruit and an orange peel and dried citrus undertone to the fruit. Give this three or four years to come together. Try after 2025.
