In 779 AD, five monks from Ireland and Scotland came to Germany, built a monastery called SLYRS in Schliersee, Bavaria, and settled down. Over time, the residents near the monastery habitually called most of the area near the monastery SLYRS. Florian Stetter (hereinafter referred to as: FS) is a young man from the SLYRS area. His family opened a gin and rum distillery - Lantenhammer Distillery (built in 1928), and he worked as the master distiller of the distillery, In 1994, he went to Scotland to study.

Up to now, SLYRS distillery has become one of the largest whiskey distilleries in Germany. It is worth mentioning that the SLYRS winery once cooperated with Bodegas Tradición, a Spanish Sherry winery, to acquire a batch of decommissioned casks from Bodegas Tradición’s Oloroso Sherry Solera system. 60+ years. After SLYRS Distillery restored and reorganized these barrels, they used them to barrel their own whiskey, and received very good results.

The Finest Bavarian Raw Materials - Gentle Production SLYRS Bavarian Single Malt Whiskey We use specially brewed barley from northern Bavaria, which is gently processed into malt. Second ingredient: Fresh spring water from nearby Banwald Springs. After the malt is crushed and mashed and undergoes a week of temperature-controlled fermentation, the fermented wort is distilled twice in small copper stills. We get a highly aromatic and soft distillate thanks to the slow distillation process and lots of separation in the front and rear runs. Long-term storage in our SLYRS casks for extraordinary complexity: this distillate is then aged for 12 years in casks made of American white oak, which were also previously covered with SLYRS whiskey. This is how SLYRS Bavarian 12 Year Old Single Malt Whiskey is able to develop its extraordinary complexity. After maturing in the mountain climate of Upper Bavaria, the twelve year old SLYRS whiskey is adjusted from cask strength to drinking strength (43% vol.) with fresh mountain spring water, which is neither colored nor filtered cold to maintain the unique SLYRS character. 

【“World Cooperage” American White Oak Barrel】

The choice of casks plays a vital role in the aging of SLYRS whiskey. That's why SLYRS uses premium new casks made from American white oak by the cask maker "World Cooperage"

White oak gives SLYRS a refined flavor. The layer of fine charcoal produced when charring the inside of the barrel provides further nuance. After an aging period of three to six years, some SLYRS whiskeys are transferred to casks that have traveled extensively, including those from Bodegas Tradición/Jerez, for a special treatment. This creates a premium rarity with its own special flavor. It is worth mentioning that the pride and joy of SLYRS, SLYRS Aged 12 Years, is aged in our own traditional wooden barrels.
