VILLA BIBBIANI
Since 2018, Villa Bibbiani has returned to its former glory. Both the Villa and the Cellars have been finely restored and now express all their elegance and beauty. The entire complex of Villa Bibbiani counts 360 hectares, of which 35 hectares currently cultivated with vines and more than 2000 olive trees. The highlight of Villa Bibbiani is undoubtedly the wonderful botanical park; eighteen hectares of lush green that surrounds the Medicean Villa of Bibbiani.

Among the Montalbano hills, portrayed by Leonardo da Vinci in his artwork, emerges Villa Bibbiani: a charming residence surrounded by a lush botanical park and marvellous vineyards.. A history of production an avantguarde in the land of Chianti, a terroir that since more than 1300 years expresses his elegance trough wine.
VINEYARDS
The Villa Bibbiani vineyards stretch along the southern side of the Montalbano hill. A diversified terroir, rich in galestro and sand, covering thirty hectares of vineyards planted at different altitudes. This is the home to a variety of indigenous and international grapes. In addition to Sangiovese, the undisputed king of this territory, there is also Cabernet Sauvignon that we consider as an indigenous variety, brough in our area by Medici family 300 years ago, named Uva Francesca.
WINERY
Considered as an engineering masterpiece in the 19th century thanks to its excellent system of water supply and temperature control, today Villa Bibbiani combines traditional methods with innovative technology harnessing the force of gravity for the movement of wine, in full respect of the grapes in the winery. In the ancient barrel cellar, among brick vaults, in addition to barrels and oak barriques, the wine also ages in terracotta or cocciopesto (opus signinum) jars, an ancient material the Romans used to preserve wine. Continuous research and attention to detail is what characterizes us the most.
VINIFICATION
Safeguarding the integrity of grapes is a real mission for Villa Bibbiani. For this reason, many processing phases, starting from the harvest, are carried out by hand and the winery is organized at various levels to facilitate a freefall production cycle. The force of gravity is also used for barreling and bottling. These measures and the high attention to detail help maintain the grapes’ distinctiveness in the bottle while offering a palate of unique elegance.

Since the beginning of time, talking about Villa Bibbiani means talking about wine. The history of the estate dates back to 776 AD, when the notarial act signed its transfer "cum pascoli et vignae" to the convent of Benedictine monks of Pistoia, ain the hands of the Lombard King Desiderius. Villa Bibbiani wine is a synthesis of excellence and passion. Excellency of a one of a kind terroir that gives its wine elegance, structure and rich aromatic bouquets that brings together all the scents of our area. A winery with passion and great respect for its legacy takes good care of its vineyards and fruits.

Solid and deep, like the roots of Villa Bibbiani in the Tuscan land, Montereggi has a very intense ruby red colour. A complex nose of spices combined with coffee and cocoa hints. In the mouth, the flavours are pervasive and long lasting with a silky and vibrant tannins. With a great personality and high potential for aging, it is a genuine expression of a Cabernet Sauvignon that has found its perfect home in the Tuscan hills.

Vinification
Grapes are manually collected with a double sorting of the bunches in the field and in the cellar. They are then introduced into steel tanks through gravity and vinified at a controlled temperature of 25°C. Here, for a period varying from fifteen to twenty days, the alcoholic fermentation and the maceration of the skins take place, during which are carried out only gentle punch-downs. After malolactic fermentation in steel, a period of ageing in wood follows. Maturation and ageing Twelve months period in French oak barrels of first and second passage followed by two months of ageing in large 25 hectolitre barrels, always made of French oak.

The 2019 Montereggi opens slowly in the glass, at first darkly floral and inward. Swirling unlocks a bouquet of black currants complemented by sage and sweet smoke nuances. This is softly textured yet racy on the palate, with juicy red fruits that give way to graphite mineral tones. It finishes structured and long, leaving fine-grained tannins to lurk beneath a coating of raspberry and licorice.
