Wine Characteristics

The colour is that of very pale yellow gold, brilliant and crystal-clear. The nose develops subtle fruit aromas (peach, pear) or acacia, honeysuckle and bracken, often over notes of fresh almond, hazelnut, cinnamon, butter, and sometimes honey. Exotic fruits are sometimes present, as are citrus notes (orange peel). On the palate, this white wine is dry and well-rounded, mineral (gun-flint) and lively from the first attack. Acidity and fatness come increasingly into play. The structure is harmonious, fresh and round.

區域也可再細分為 8 個小村，北部區域有 Davayé，Prissé 和 Solutré-Pouilly，其中 Solutré-Pouilly 的酒可以選擇標作 Pouilly-Fuissé 或 Saint-Véran。
南部區域有 Chânes，Chasselas，Leynes，Saint-Amour 和 Saint-Vérand，就是產區名字就是取自 Saint-Vérand，少了的 "d" 只是因為定法規時人為出錯了。

不同村都有少許風土分別，不過最好的主要都以石灰石/黏土/白堊為主，雖然沒有 Pouilly-Fuissé 這麼多石灰石，但也有著高比例的白堊黏土。巨石所屬的連綿的山帶帶來平均 250 至 450 米海拔，為葡萄園提供不同坡度，可以最大化日照，東向的坡度提供早晨溫暖的陽光防止霜害發生，西北向的坡度則可以延長成熟期。

Saint-Véran 雖然不像 Pouilly-Fuissé 有 Premier Cru (2020 有 22 個葡萄園升格為 Premier Cru)，但也是區內最高級，又比較高質有名氣的子區～最好的例子也能與 Pouilly-Fuissé 甚至 Côte-d'Or​ 相比！因為 Mâconnais 稍南較暖較乾的氣候，一般來說這裏的白酒都會比其他 Burgundy 白酒來得厚身一點，果香更成熟，一樣乾身不甜 (dry)，最好的例子也能帶出高質 Burgundy 白酒的礦物感。
