Champagne G.H. Martel & Co., located in Epernay, was founded in 1869 and is the world's fifth-largest Champagne group. It has been run by the Rapeneau family from Marne for generations; the eagle in Victoire symbolizes victory.
The Rapeneau family originally produced and sold wines, spirits, and Champagne. Due to their passion for Champagne's history and its proximity to the Champagne vineyards, the Rapeneau family decided to focus solely on Champagne production. They acquired the management rights in 1900 and have maintained the business entirely within the family for decades. Christophe Rapeneau is the fourth-generation winemaker in the family and is also the cellar manager and winemaker of Champagne G.H. Martel & Co.
Currently, G.H. Martel & Co. is the world's fifth-largest Champagne group, owning seven Champagne houses: Champagne Charles de Cazanouve (Reims, 1811), Champagne G.H. Martel & Co. (Epernay, 1869), Champagne Vieille France (Reims, 1860), Champagne Chateau de Bligny (Côte des Bars, 1733), Champagne Paul Louis Martin (Bouzy, Montagne de Reims, 1864), Champagne Charles Orban (Troissy, Vallee de la Marne, 1770), and Champagne Mansard (Epernay, 1953).

Winemaking takes place according to the terroir before blending. It is the work of true precision and expertise—the art of blending—that gives our Champagnes their unique and renowned quality. They are primarily made from Chardonnay grapes and aged in the cellars for 24 months to ensure the gradual development and optimal evolution of their aromas.
