Domaine du Pegau is one of the top wineries in the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation, renowned for its adherence to traditional winemaking techniques.  Cuvee Reservee is the estate's flagship wine, embodying the quintessential characteristics of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape soil and terroir.  This 2006 red wine is a blend of 13 grape varieties, primarily Grenache (approximately 80%), Syrah (approximately 6%), and Mourvèdre (approximately 4%), with the remainder consisting of other permitted varieties.

The 2006 vintage is considered an excellent vintage at Châteauneuf-du-Pape, with the wine displaying balanced fruit, structure, and aging potential.  According to Wine-Searcher, the 2006 Cuvee Réservee received an average score of 92 points, describing it as a traditional and attractive wine with "elegance and seriousness."  Critic Jon Rimmerman compared the wine to some of Château Pergaud's legendary vintages, such as 1995, displaying rich herbal and baked plum aromas, with subtle notes of white pepper, and a vibrant, medium-bodied palate.

This wine already exhibited good drinkability upon release, but its structure and tannins provide excellent aging potential.  According to reviews, the 2006 Cuvée Réservée is expected to age well for several years, perhaps even into 2025 or beyond, developing more complex flavors with time.

Owned by the Feraud family, Domaine du Pegau is now led by Laurence Feraud, who continues the family's traditional winemaking philosophy while incorporating a modern, feminine perspective. The estate is located in the Courthezon, La Solitude, and Bedarrides districts of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, encompassing approximately 47 acres of vineyards. The soils are primarily pebble, clay, and limestone, which impart a unique minerality and rich flavor to the wines.

It gives off the aroma of ripe black fruits, morello cherries, raspberries and blackberries, accompanied by pepper. As it ages, the aroma gradually develops into more complex scents such as dried plums, dried fruits, leather, fur and sandalwood. The wine has a full-bodied texture, a round and powerful taste, and soft tannins with a good structure.
