Chateau Doisy-Daene, located in the Barsac appellation of Bordeaux, France, produces some of the finest white wines in the region. In 1846, Chateau Doisy-Daene, along with Chateau Coutet, Chateau Climens, and Chateau de Myrat, was listed as a Premier Cru in the Barsac classification by Charles Cocks, becoming one of the four Premier Crus in the region. Later, in 1850, it was included in Charles Cocks' list of the eleven greatest white wine estates in Bordeaux. In the 1855 Classification of Sauternes and Barsac, Chateau Doisy-Daene was classified as a Second Growth (2eme Cru Classé).
The name Chateau Doisy-Daene is derived from the estate's name, "Doisy," and the surname of its then-owner, Jean Jacques Emmanuel Daene. In 1875, Jean Jacques' three sons inherited the estate, and that same year, they sold part of it to the Dubroca brothers. Over the following decades, Chateau Doisy-Daene changed hands several times before finally being acquired in 1924 by the perfectionist grape grower and winemaker Georges Dubourdieu, who then managed the estate under the Dubourdieu family's management. Between 1924 and 1949, Georges brought the estate considerable fame with several legendary vintages. Afterwards, the estate was managed by his son, Pierre, an innovative and passionate entrepreneur who acquired additional vineyards from Chateau Doisy-Dubroca, expanding the estate's scale.
In 2000, Denis took over the reins of the estate from his father. He is a professor at the University of Bordeaux's School of Enology and an internationally renowned wine consultant with significant achievements in winemaking. In an interview, Mr. Denis Dubourdieu once said that if he were to drink one wine before he dies, it would be the Sauternes from his father's estate, Doisy-Daene. "I hope to share a glass with them and tell them that this wine still tastes wonderful."

This legendary winemaker, known as the "Professor of Bordeaux" and the "Father of White Wine," Denis Dubourdieu, has served as a winemaking consultant for renowned Bordeaux estates, including Chateau d'Yquem, Cheval Blanc, and Pavillon blanc du Chateau Margaux. He inherited and founded several wineries in the Sauternes appellation of Bordeaux and established the renowned "Institute of Viticultural and Wine Sciences (ISVV)." In 2016, he was named "Man of the Year" by the prestigious Decanter magazine. He passed away later that year due to illness, and this wine became one of Denis Dubourdieu's final works.
In 2004, Denis's two sons, Fabrice and Jean, joined the winery's management team, becoming his capable assistants, and officially took over the winery in 2016. For over 90 years, four generations of the Dubourdieu family have managed the winery with unwavering passion for crafting superior white wines.

The winery's vineyards cover 15 hectares, with soils primarily composed of clay and chalk. They are planted with 60% Semillon and 40% Sauvignon Blanc, at a planting density of 7,000 vines per hectare, with an average vine age of 50 years.
The winery regularly practices traditional cultivation methods in the vineyards, avoiding the use of herbicides and synthetic pesticides. They apply organic fertilizers derived from plant sources and perform tasks such as bud removal, trellising, and leaf thinning manually. Therefore, the vines here grow as if "in a garden," enjoying an orderly and nurtured environment, resulting in wines with fresh, bright fruit aromas, rich flavors, and a smooth palate.

L'Extravagant de Doisy-Daene was created in 1990. This rare and exceptional wine originated from an experiment conducted by Denis Dubourdieu. He wanted to push the boundaries of creating a special wine using Sauvignon Blanc suffering from noble rot. As a result, the grapes were harvested in early November, resulting in high sugar, high alcohol, and high berry concentration. Since 1990, only exceptional vintages have produced it, and in limited quantities.
