Vinosdel Viento is a new Spanish winery introduced by Wine Couple, and of course the products are as high quality and drinkable as ever! The soul of the winery is definitely the American owner Michael Cooper, also known as the "Vine Hunter"! He has spent many years searching for high altitude, old vines and non-irrigated vineyards that he likes! Finally, he fell in love with Calatayud DO in Aragon, Spain and founded Vinos Del Viento. This land has its own special characteristics that captivated Michael Cooper, not only is it located on the slopes of 600-1,000 meters, but also has poor Calcareous Clay soils and very special pebbles called Canto Rodado. Rodado, and most importantly the strong cold winds of Cierzo blowing into the vineyards for a long time, making the temperature difference between day and night even greater, and producing softer and more acidic wines. This is why Michael Cooper is able to produce wines that are soft, fruity and full of flavor!
Grenache Blanc is a white grape variety native to Spain, and is a color variation of Garnacha. Known as Garnacha Blanca in Spain, it is now also grown in northeastern Spain, southern France, and Australia. Garnacha Blanca can be made as a single wine or in blends, and is generally full-flavored, full-bodied, with refreshing acidity, natural roundness, and floral, green apple, herbaceous and mineral notes.
The Somontano region, named for its location at the foot of the Pyrenees Mountains in the province of Huesca, embodies the Spanish meaning of "at the foot of the mountain." Granted DO status in 1984, Somontano is a young and vibrant region with an outstanding reputation for winemaking. It is also one of the few regions in Spain that utilizes modern winemaking methods, boasting advanced technology in its wineries and vineyards, and creatively designed wine labels. The overall climate is continental, with high-altitude, sloping vineyards, and abundant sunshine in summer and cool nights, all crucial for the healthy growth and ripening of the grapes.
