Rive Prosecco - Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG
Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG
The wines of the Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco DOCG denomination are obtained from the grapes of the Glera grape and, up to a maximum of 15% of Verdiso, Bianchetta trevigiana, Perera and long Glera.
The DOCG Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco area has a series of hilly reliefs separated by a series of valleys crossed by small streams. The prealpine chain further north acts as a barrier for cold currents, while to the south the area is mitigated by the proximity of the Venice Lagoon.
In this area, the vine has been cultivated since ancient times, with written records dating back to the 6th century and later to the era of the Venetian Republic. The first mention of the cultivation of Prosecco in the hills of Conegliano Valdobbiadene date back to the late eighteenth century and already in the mid-nineteenth century the vine began to be vinified in purity. The recognition of the “Prosecco dei Colli di Conegliano Valdobbiadene” (DOC) dates back to 1969, and in 1966 the birth of the first Italian wine route on the Conegliano hills. In 2009 the DOCG Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco was recognized.
