Domaine Nicolas Gauffroy is a highly representative century-old family winery in the Meursault appellation of Burgundy, France. Deeply rooted in the Côte d'Or terroir for over a century, they adhere to traditional, nature-respecting viticultural and winemaking philosophies, crafting a range of classic Burgundy wines that combine terroir characteristics with refined texture.
The winery's viticultural history dates back to 1900, when the Gauffroy family ancestors began cultivating the Meursault vineyards. Officially established as a winery in 1938, it has been passed down through four generations. The winery is located in the village of Meursault, in the heart of the Côte de Beaune in Burgundy, covering approximately 12 hectares. Its vineyards are scattered across prestigious appellations such as Meursault and Puligny-Montrachet, primarily planted with classic Burgundy Chardonnay and Pinot Noir varieties. While also focusing on the refined winemaking of both red and white wines, the winery boasts not only highly regarded village and Premier Cru wines, but also regional base wines that consistently maintain quality exceeding industry standards.

Limozin is a highly prestigious micro-plot within Meursault, situated on a gentle eastern slope. It enjoys exceptional growing conditions and is widely recognized as one of the vineyards best showcasing the "mineral character" of Meursault. Compared to other Meursault vineyards known for their rich, creamy, and fruity aromas, Limozin's terroir is more crisp and complex: the soil, primarily light-colored limestone and flint with a small amount of clay, has excellent drainage, forcing the vines to root deeply and absorb minerals from the lower layers; ample east-facing sunshine allows the grapes to ripen slowly and evenly, preserving delicate acidity and intense flavor compounds, while avoiding midday sun to maintain the wine's freshness and vibrancy.
Chardonnay from this vineyard has always broken away from the traditionally heavy and monotonous style of Meursault, characterized by its crisp, sophisticated minerality, firm structure, and delicate floral and fruit layers. Elegant in style and possessing great aging potential, it is a hidden gem among Meursault's village-level white wines.

Nicolas Gauffroy is renowned for his meticulous hands-on method and respect for terroir, dedicated to crafting wines that combine the full-bodied character of traditional Messo with modern crispness and vitality.
His strict Lutte Raisonnée method involves near-organic and biodynamic farming practices in the vineyards. He completely avoids the use of chemical fertilizers, herbicides, or pesticides, insisting on entirely hand-harvesting to maintain the purity of the soil and grapes.
No artificial yeasts are added, and no chemicals or sulfur are added during the winemaking process, minimizing human intervention to present the purest possible terroir.
This wine is labeled Vieilles Vignes (old vines), with vines all over 30 years old. Older vines have extremely developed root systems that can penetrate several meters underground, stably absorbing rich minerals and trace elements from the soil, completely shedding the singular fruitiness of younger vines. At the same time, older vines naturally have limited yields, resulting in highly concentrated fruit and a more complex and full-bodied flavor profile, with a balance of acidity and flavor far exceeding that of grapes from vines of average age. This is why this wine not only possesses the vibrant floral and fruity aromas of younger wines, but also the unique mellowness, depth, and long finish of older vines, expressing the terroir in an extremely pure way.
