Monthelie, located in the Côte-de-Beaune appellation of Burgundy, situated on prime hillsides north of Vornay and south of Meursault, is a niche and highly promising boutique wine region within the Côte-de-Beaune. The Montrelli appellation comprises 99 hectares of village-level vineyards and 41 hectares of Premier Cru vineyards, including 15 officially certified Premier Cru plots. Les Riottes is a particularly rare micro-Premier Cru vineyard, with a total area of ​​only 0.75 hectares, making it one of the smallest Premier Cru vineyards in Montrelli. Its production is extremely limited, making it highly valuable for collectors and connoisseurs.

Les Riottes is situated vertically in a valley called Combe Danay, boasting gentle slopes and an excellent east-facing levantage point, allowing it to enjoy the gentlest morning sunlight. This allows the Pinot Noir to mature perfectly during its long growing season while retaining excellent acidity.

Soil Structure: The soil here is primarily Bartonian clay and Argiles du Bathonien (gravel). This clay acts like a natural sponge, retaining moisture in dry years for the vine roots to draw upon, giving the Pinot Noir a rich, full-bodied character.
