In 1321, under the reign of Pope Jean XXII, four barrels were brought from the papal cellar to be filled with wine in Châteauneuf. Then, the Popes planted new vines and the legend of the papal wine began.

We can find the first evidence of Château de Beaucastel as it exists today in the sixteenth century. In 1549, Pierre de Beaucastel bought a « barn with a plot of land extending to 52 saumées at Coudoulet ». The manor house will be built then with the arms of Beaucastel sculpted on a stone wall of the drawing room.

In 1687, Pierre de Beaucastel was appointed « Capitaine de la ville de Courthezon » by Louis XIV, in recognition of his conversion to Catholicism. Louis XIV's letter, also signed by Colbert, is still visible at the Château. In 1909, Pierre Tramier leads the wine estate and then transfers it to his son-in-law Pierre Perrin, a scientist that developed Beaucastel. Then Jacques Perrin continued his father efforts until 1978 and gave its noble letters to this wine.

Chateau de Beaucastel Chateauneuf-du-Pape Grand Cuvee Hommage a Jacques Perrin 2005

不愧係Beaucastel嘅最高級的酒款

剛開瓶處於完全封閉的狀態，並沒有太多的風味，但即便如此都能夠充分感受到封閉的背後有著強大的複雜度；直到半小時後開始有輕微的紅果浮現，savory的風味、mushroom以及earthy、甘草的清香，入口衝擊感很強，full body，酒液包裹整個口腔，能感受到很強的結構，單寧非常柔和舒服，但卻存在感十足。

隨時間推演，幾乎6小時後，整體的香氣才開始釋放，成熟的紅莓，紅醋栗風味變得明顯，甘草糖、甜香料、紫羅蘭的花香等等，入口刺激感減低，整體變得更優雅隨和，但同時緊緻有力，可以預期絕對能有更多的變化出現，真的是複雜度滿分的作品。

無論是陳年潛力，複雜度，變化程度，風土呈現等等個方面，Chateau de Beaucastel都絕對是CDP產區的上乘之作，一試難忘。

Today, the torch is being carried by Jean-Pierre and François, Jacques Perrin's sons that continue the beautiful story of Château de Beaucastel. Marc, Pierre, Thomas, Cécile, Charles, Matthieu and César, the 5th generation, work today all together with them. Beaucastel is, first of all, a family story, the story of Famille Perrin. Their main strength is being able to blend the talents of each family member to run the wine estate under common values: absolute respect for land and terroir, biodynamic culture as a philosophy of life, the research of truth, balance and elegance.

Chateau de Beaucastel Hommage a Jacques Perrin

Dominated by Mourvèdre, the traditional Châteauneuf-du-Pape grape variety rehabilitated by Jacques Perrin, it is a wine of extraordinary concentration. It has great aromatic complexity – dark fruits, spices and leather…and its tannins are fine, noble and elegant. It is of great purity,- each of its vintages matures slowly and evolves with complexity thanks to their impressive cellaring potential.

A remarkable terroir of very old vines, tended in the most natural way possible, according to biodynamic principles so dear to Jacques Perrin.

Château de Beaucastel has long been regarded as one of the greatest wines in France. It is notorious for its elegance, balance and ageing potential. Beaucastel has an exceptional terroir at the Northern limit of Châteauneuf du Pape, exposed to the Mistral wind. All thirteen varieties of the appellation have been organically grown since the sixties.

Considered as one of the greatest white wines in France, only 6000 bottles of this wine are produced. It's made with 100% very old Roussanne vines and harvested slightly over ripe. This exceptional wine must be drunk within 3 years or after 15 years. To be enjoyed with gastronomic cuisine.

The production of white wine at Beaucastel is limited as we only have 7 hectares of white vines planted. The main variety is Roussanne, representing 80% of the blend.

Chateau de Beaucastel Cotes du Rhone Coudoulet de Beaucastel Rouge

The Coudoulet soil has many similarities to that of Beaucastel. It is made out of Molasse seabed covered by diluvial alpine deposits. These pebbles called “Galets Roulés” play a big role: They take in the heat during the day and let it if off slowly at night which gives a good start to the vines in the Spring.

The 30 hectares of Coudoulet are located just east of the vineyard of Beaucastel on the other side of the A7 motorway. For reasons that have now become obvious, Coudoulet is often considered the baby Beaucastel. The Coudoulet soil has many similarities to that of Beaucastel.
