背景
國王手下的年輕貴族 Jacquesde Bergeron于1720年5月30日在 Saint-Julien de Reignac 教堂裡迎娶了葡萄園的女繼承人Marie Dejean。祖籍貝阿恩的活躍商人Bertrand Ducru 經營著自己的貿易公司，後於1797年收購了莊園。而 Beaucaillou 解作美麗的石頭，酒莊名稱就是由創園莊主名稱加上園內特色而成Chateau Ducru-Beaucaillou。他對梅多克酒的熱愛之情促使他為酒窖和葡萄園投入了大量的人力和物力，在 1855 年分級的激烈競爭中，寶嘉龍表現出色，被列為波爾多的二級名莊。
幾經易手，1942年，Francis Borie 以終身租賃的方式從 Fernand Odon Desbarats de Burke 手中接管寶嘉龍。家族在波爾多還有 Grand Puy Lascote和Haut Batailley 酒莊。Jean-Eugène 子承父業，為葡萄園和酒窖展開細緻的重修工程。致使寶嘉龍的聲譽在此段時期上升到波爾多的頂峰水準。酒莊由1953開始就聘用了被譽為偉大的釀酒師之一 Emile Peynaud作酒莊顧問。1998年，在著名葡萄酒評論家Robert Parker對波爾多名莊的分級中，寶嘉龍和拉菲、拉圖等並列一級酒莊，自此酒莊也得到了一個非官方的「超二級莊」頭銜。而寶嘉龍正牌算是最後一批將葡萄酒置於100%新桶中陳釀18個月的酒莊之一，從而令酒體得以保持50年乃至更長的陳釀能力，即是短時間的內都未到時候享用，而 La Croixde Beaucaillou (副牌)，從1995年開始在莊園裝瓶。之前會以散裝賣給波爾多酒商。根據年份來決定20%~40%的新木桶陳釀。熟成時間為12個月。副牌正好填補正牌特長陳存時間，更莫說是已經15年的2005年，正直到了最適合飲用的年期了。而2005年的酒標仍然為黃橙色，與正牌酒標非常近似，而現時新年份副牌酒已改為黑色酒標。
另外 Jean-Eugène 喜愛中國文化，特別喜歡酒莊的中文名- 寶嘉龍，還為自己兒子取了一個中文名- 龍寶力。他又試過帶皮蛋回酒莊，配上82年寶嘉龍，”對於中餐的感情更是強烈，我覺得你們國家有太多好吃的東西了。皮蛋，它有着濃烈的氣味和口感，它與波爾多風格的「大酒」可以是很好的夥伴。太棒了！”

The second wine, the sensational 2005 Croix de Beaucaillou, is the finest example of this cuvee I have ever tasted. Sweet black raspberry and black cherry fruit aromas soar from the glass of this open-knit seductress. A dense ruby/purple color, beautiful full-bodied, lush, expansive flavors, low acidity, and sweet tannin suggest this lovely cuvee should be drunk over the next 12-13 years. It is an amazing sleeper of the vintage!

Has an impressive nose, with wonderful aromas of currant, toasty oak and flowers. Full-bodied, with velvety tannins and a long, caressing finish. There's lots of new wood in the aftertaste, but also juicy fruit. Best after 2012.

Aromas of plums and berries with hints of chocolate and spice. Medium to full body, with firm tannins and a chocolate and berry undertone. Well done. Second wine of Ducru.

Produced from much lower-yielding vines than Lalande Borie. Scented, fragrant, soft, very fruity. Rather sumptuous -- full and round and sweet. 17/20 points. Drink 2015-2022.
