【1959年格拉芙列級莊】
史密斯拉菲特酒莊（Chateau Smith Haut Lafitte）位於法國波爾多（Bordeaux）城南邊佩薩克-雷奧良（Pessac-Leognan）產區中的瑪蒂亞克（Martillac）村，是格拉夫（Graves）產區的列級酒莊。
早在1365年，著名的 Bosq 家族便已在這裏種植葡萄，這片佈滿礫石的土地被稱為“Lafitte”，意為“比較高的小丘”。到18世紀，蘇格蘭航運商喬治·史密斯（George Smith）買下這個酒莊，把自己的名字加入酒莊的大名之中，命名為“Chateau Smith Haut Lafitte”。隨後，他修建了現在的酒莊主建築，Chateau Smith Haut Lafitte的徽記上有個倒置的皇冠，這是由於早期早期莊主屬於皇族但又不是正統的皇族，所以攝於皇族的威嚴，把皇冠倒置，皇冠的三個分叉代表了喬治·史密斯（George Smith）的三個兒子。下方的三多百合花象徵著建立酒莊葡萄園的Bosq家族。中間一個月牙代表有著“月之港”美稱的波爾多港口。從歷史上可以看出，波爾多葡萄酒之所以聞名世界，其最早的功勞還要歸功於包括史密斯拉菲特酒莊前莊主——蘇格蘭航運商史密斯先生在內的大英帝國的商人，英國當時並不生產葡萄酒，而正是這些熱愛葡萄酒的人把法國酒推廣並銷售到了全世界。
史密斯拉菲特酒莊（Chateau Smith Haut Lafitte）的建築群規模相當大，不僅有城堡、釀造車間、大型地下酒窖，還有規模不小的高級度假賓館（Les Sources de Caudalie）、葡萄精華理療美容SPA中心（Caudalie Vinotherapie Spa）、科達利（Caudalie）高級餐廳，庭院裏還有花園、流水和眾多充滿藝術感的雕塑，其中包括巴裏·弗蘭納根（Barry Flanagan）創作的“飛奔的兔子”雕塑，以及中國雕塑家黃永砯、義大利藝術家米莫·帕拉迪諾（Mimmo Paladino）等人的精彩作品。
酒莊團隊認為：優質葡萄酒是風土與植株之間自然平衡的產物，為了實現這一目標，他們在葡萄園內全面推行有機種植，並在白葡萄園內使用馬匹進行耕作，還通過種植樹籬、保護周邊林地和養殖蜜蜂等方式維護生物多樣性。此外，酒莊採用葡萄觀察衛星系統（Oenoview Satellite System）和無人機等現代技術密切監控葡萄園狀況，並在長期的研究中繪製出精確的風土地圖，因地制宜地調整種植結構，讓葡萄果實展現不同地塊的風土特質。
目前，Chateau Smith Haut Lafitte出產6款酒，分別為一紅一白兩款正牌酒、名為小拉菲特（Le Petit Haut Lafitte）的一紅一白兩款副牌酒，以及名為“Les Hauts de Smith”的一紅一白兩款三牌酒。Chateau Smith Haut Lafitte近些年表現趨於穩定，在多個年份均獲得極高的酒評家及媒體評分，廣受市場歡迎。

The currants and blackberries on the nose are very impressive with wet-earth and lavender undertones. Full body and super-integrated tannins that melt into the wine. The quality of the tannins is incredible with fantastic length and mouthfeel. So much concentration and balance at the same time. Such beauty. From biodynamic grapes. A gorgeous wine that flirts with perfection, the 2015 offers perfectly ripe blackcurrant aromas as well as delicate hints of graphite, flowers, black cherry and roasted meat. Possessing an almost Smith-like elegance on the palate, it has a fine tannic frame, fruity structure and saline finish. This powerful, full-bodied wine can be preserved for several decades. 2015 marks the 650th anniversary of Smith Haut Lafitte and 25 years of the Cathiard family’s ownership of the estate.

This vintage is a blend of 63% Cabernet Sauvignon, 33% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot, matured in 65% new oak barrels. Medium to deep garnet-purple, the 2015 Smith Haut Lafitte has a totally dazzling nose of exotic spices—star anise, fenugreek and Sichuan pepper—over a core of chocolate-covered cherries, wild blueberries, plum preserves, violets and earthy wafts of truffles, moss, tilled black soil and forest floor. Medium to full-bodied, beautifully balanced and packing a lot of flavor into a relatively modest package, it fills the mouth with spice and herb-laced black and blue fruit layers, supported by very ripe, very finely grained tannins and seamless freshness, finishing with epic length. This is already a show-stopping, heart-pounding beauty, but should also age incredibly!

Another wine from the Cathiard family I was able to taste on multiple occasions is the 2015 Smith Haut Lafitte and it’s brilliant stuff readers should snatch up. Offering a huge nose of chocolatey dark fruits, roasted herbs, graphite and flowers, this big, rich, opulent beauty has building tannin, loads of structure and great mid-palate. It will drink nicely for 20+ years.
