Clos des Papes 位於法國 Southern Rhone的 Chateauneuf du Pape 產區始建於1756年。到18世紀末酒莊才開始出品葡萄酒到1802年酒莊才取名為 Clos des Papes。酒莊的葡萄園種植65% Grenache,20% Mourvedre,10% Syrah 和 5% 的其他品種。雖然在香港知名度不是最高(產量有限實際上流通也非常少)但其名聲享譽世界成為了內行人心目中的私伙酒在2007年美國權威葡萄酒雜誌 《Wine Spectator》的百大葡萄酒評選中名列第一

酒莊的老莊主Paul Avril 的一生對教皇新堡產區都有非常大的貢獻早於1963年時他便繼承了家族的 Clos des Papes當年所有該產區所有的葡萄酒不是由酒莊自行裝瓶Paul Avril 便是第一個在教皇新堡產區內推廣酒莊自行裝瓶的人該舉動在當時可算是非常大膽。老莊主從1963年至1987年都在酒莊內工作在此期間他釀造的1978年 Clos des Papes 得到了有史以來的最高評價——99分。老莊主Paul Avril 於 2009年以72歲的高齡因癌症去世後。他的兒子Paul-Vincent接管了 Clos des Papes。

從1988年開始 Paul-Vincent在家族酒莊工作之前他曾經在波爾多幾家知名酒莊工作其中包括 Chateau Mouton Rothschild 和布根地學習釀酒。Paul-Vincent是一個傳統主義者他嚴格控制產量並且採用生物動力法進行種植採用 Unfiltered 法裝瓶。酒莊於2010年獲得“Agriculture Biologique”認證故此在品嚐 Clos des Papes 時不難喝出他家優雅的韻美和純淨的酒風,這或多或少都是Paul-Vincent把波爾多和布根地的釀酒哲理融入其中。

Still relatively young tasting, the 2009Chateauneuf du Pape accents lush red fruit with hints of leather and Asian fivespice powder. It's full-bodied and velvety, ripe, plush and long, a completelydelicious taste experience that culminates in a lick of salted licorice. Ownersshould count themselves lucky to have purchased some, as this still has adecade or more of life ahead of it.

Sinewy and reserved, with a light dustingof cocoa powder over the tangy damson plum, red licorice and cassis notes. Thelong, supple finish, with a lovely wafting note of Lapsang souchong tea, ispacked with minerality and tight-grained tannins that will need time to fullyevolve. One of the more backward 2009s, though this should pick up steam in thecellar.

While described as masculine byPaul-Vincent (possibly due to the tannin level and quality), I found the 2009Clos des Papes Châteauneuf-du-Pape to be quite elegant and almost finessedriven, showing gorgeous kirsch and licorice-laced blackberry-like fruits,Asian spice, garrigue, and floral notes on the nose, medium to full body, and avery straight, focused texture that highlights very fine grained tannin. Whilequite approachable now, with an almost Burgundian-like texture and density,this should ideally be given 3-4 years in the cellar, and then consumed overthe following decade or longer. A resounding success in the vintage and loversof Clos des Papes will not be disappointed.

🏅 Vinous 95 points

Full ruby. Intense aromas of red fruitpreserves, anise, lavender and exotic spices. Supple and expansive on thepalate, offering deep raspberry and cherry flavors accented by floral pastilleand spice nuances. Tannins come on late and build with air, but the fruit keepspace. Finishes firm and very long, with resonating floral and spice notes andimpressive energy.

🏅 Jancis Robinson 19/20 points

A bit of liquorice and leather on the nosebut wonderful richness on the palate, glorious breadth and the tannins arenowhere to be seen! Majestic. Great power but no beast, early signs are verygood indeed. Structure and fine tannins, lightly leathery, starts to close alittle on the end but it’s really a miracle of improvement over the five lovelyingredients.
