Vinous(Josh Raynolds): Jean Foillard is most likely the top estate in Beaujolais today and has been for the past 10 years or so. Foillard’s consistency over the last couple of decades has been extremely impressive.
Neal Martin: If you are still under the misguided belief that Beaujolais cannot make world class wine, then you have not tasted the wines from Jean Foillard.
James Suckling: This biodynamic producer is a long favorite of mine making soulful and precise wines.

話說小編技安之前上了Beaujolais 的Master Class, 已經深深被這產區迷住了。Beaujolais 是一個仍在發展而且相當具潛力的產區,雖然Gamay都曾經在14世紀紅極一時,但由於布根地的土地已接近天價📈莫講話一地難求,直頭係一行難求😰相對Beaujolais仍是屬於價廉物美的樂土~結果給予酒莊和釀酒師們一個很好的地方追求自己的夢想💪🏻但由於薄酒萊新酒太深入民心,而且多家巨型生產商大量生產出低價的Beaujolais搶佔巿場,以致酒友對於薄酒萊酒都是簡單、新鮮、早飲、平價酒的形象😕然而薄酒萊得天獨厚的風土,10個Cru當中各具特色,再加上迷人的Gamay,有不少頂級的釀酒師拒絶隨波逐流🙅🏻♂️相反踏上艱辛的自然酒之路,採取生物動力法🌌依靠超老樹齡,將Gamay葡萄的特性發揮淋漓盡至,釀造出極具層次、力量、複雜而有深度,並且可陳存十數年以上的佳釀,足以媲美鄰區布根地的黑皮諾,當中Jean Foillard 就是其中一位表表者🙌🏻
有Beaujolais自然酒大師之稱的Jean Foillard人稱Morgon Master🙏🏻這位大師師承法國自然酒之父 Jules Chauvet,是最早投入自然酒的一批釀酒師,在薄酒萊與Marcel Lapierre 、Jean Paul Thevenet 和Guy Breton齊名、這個4人幫堪稱是薄酒萊的最強代表👬🏻👬🏻Jean Foilard 自1980年接下父親的酒莊,並與妻子Agnes共同經營,採用生物動力法🌌只用天然酵母,整串葡萄(whole bunch)發酵,不加任何糖和酸,不過濾,不用任何化學農藥,盡可能用最少二氧化硫,並在Burgundy舊桶陳年,酒莊位於10個Cru裡頭的Morgon,是眾當Cru當中的貴族,有充足的日照,土壤由花崗岩和片岩組成,促成酒體的複雜度和風味🔝
可以做到En Primeur 期酒的Beaujolais不下幾家,新年份住住一推出就被搶購一空,經歐美、日本、台灣進口商/自然酒飲家搶貨後,基本上巿場所餘無幾🤷🏻♂️我地Wine Couple有幸返到少量貨,機會難得🙌🏻對比布根地的黑皮諾,就算是新酒落地亦不會令人擰頭卻步,當然如果可以陳熟5-8年以上,一定會享受到更好更成熟的一面~Neal Martin在2017年飲得到2004年Côte du Py就說道: as attested by a stunning 2004 Morgon Côte du Py that would surpass many a hi-falutin Côte de Nuits!😳

Foillard's 2020 Morgon Côte du Py bursts with aromas of peonies, orange rind, exotic spices and dark berries. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and layered, it's deep and concentrated, with a rich core of fruit, tangy acids, powdery tannins and a long, sapid finish. Intensely flavored and incisive, at this early stage the 2020 looks to be one of the finest vintages of this cuvée in recent years.
As I've written before, it's an open secret that this is one of the region's finest, most consistent addresses, and the just-released 2020 vintage has turned out especially well.
