Krug 庫克香檳被稱為香檳界的勞斯萊斯，無論是基本的 Grande Cuvee 還是最頂級的 Clos d’Ambonnay 都是品質和奢華的代表。在 1843 年由本名叫做 Johann-Joseph Krug 的德國人所創立，之後為了融入法國而拿掉中間的 Johann，改名為 Joseph Krug。 最初 Joseph 先在當時的大莊 Jacquesson 工作，很快就成為了合夥人。

但之後跟 Jacquesson 有意見分歧，當時的顧客因為香檳不穩定的質素而開始失去信心，因此 Joseph Krug 認為應該釀造更穩定更好品質的香檳回饋顧客，但得到的只是＂不要浪費時間，年份決定質素＂的冷冷回應。所以 Joseph Krug 之後就決心跳出來釀造自己心目中的香檳～為之後的釀造理念奠定了基礎。

正因如此，Krug 的一大特點是龐大的基酒量，提供極其穩定而且高質的混釀選擇。葡萄園劃分成超過 250 個區域，而每個區域的葡萄都會分開釀造，以為混釀提供特定風格的基酒，全部分開存放，一直保持著高達 200 款十多個年份的基酒存放在不同的容器內，而無年份的經典酒款 Grande Cuvee 每年使用的 reserve wine 高達約 45%，令 Krug 出品能維持很高的穩定性、風格和質素。

另一個特點就是 Krug 一直都是用 205L 的香檳木桶進行第一次發酵，一共有大概 4000 個，都會用上平均桶齡 25 年的舊桶，最老的木桶甚至從 1964 年用起，就是為了等酒液能夠透過木桶的小孔和氧氣接觸，加強複雜度和結構，令其更穩定，陳年能力更高，但又不會有過多的木桶氣息和單寧。

Krug 現在是 LVMH 集團旗下，和 Dom Perignon 香檳王一樣，但跟集團其他品牌不同的是，Krug 仍然是由酒莊本身的家族自行管理和決策，現時由第六代的 Olivier Krug 掌舵。

自家葡萄園只有 21 公頃，佔產量 30%，而其他則跟一般香檳酒莊一樣，從精選的約 100 個葡萄農購入，有些更是合作了幾代。所以在決定混釀時除了 Krug 的團隊之外，葡萄農也會一起參與，能夠給予意見之餘也能令他們實際感受到他們葡萄園質素之高。和 Dom 一樣，Krug 都從來不會公開實際產量，以免令人有大產量所以低質的錯誤印象。不過要知道即使產量不少，葡萄園這麼多，但都可以一一分開監控和處理同時保持著質素，不是一般香檳酒莊能達到的水平。

除了基本的 Grande Cuvee、年份香檳、Rose 外，更有 2 款單一園旗艦酒款，第一款是 Krug Clos du Mesnil 100% Chardonnay 的白中白，用上從 Salon 酒莊購入的 Grand Cru Mesnil Sur Oger，佔地 1.84 公頃，年產約 12000 瓶。

另一款就是最頂級的 Clos d’Ambonnay 黑鑽 100% Pinot Noir 黑中白，同樣是 Grand Cru 但這塊只有 0.685 公頃，年產只有 3000-5000 瓶，多年來更只是出產了 1995，1996，1998、2000、2002、2006 這幾個年份，非常罕有，Winesearcher 均價去到 $20000 多，是世界上最頂級最昂貴的香檳之一。

近年 Krug 也推出了 Krug ID，到官網一查瓶身的 ID 數字，就能看到裝瓶時間、混釀比例、基本的葡萄採收年份，令消費者有更清晰的基本資訊。

這款 Krug Grande Cuvee 被稱為最平易近人的香檳，由 1843 起就每年都會生產，分成不同的版本 (Edition)，這款 171 就是代表第 171 個年份，主要用上 2015 年的葡萄，再混入 42%，來自 12 個不同年份共 131 個批次的 Reserve wine，最老的去到 2000 年。最後瓶中二次發酵 on lees 陳熟約 7 年後才裝瓶上市。

The tightness and tension of this is impressive considering the youngest wine from this is 2015 (hot and dry year), with some wines going back to 2000. Ginger and orange zest. Some creme brulee. It's medium-bodied with apple, pie crust and floral character. It's salty and zesty yet, at the same time, complex and gorgeous. Chamomile and other floral teas highlight everything. Turns rich and flavorful at the finish. Terrific release. Really takes off at the end. Drink or hold.

The NV Grande Cuvée 171ème Edition is a delightful blend of 45% Pinot Noir, 37% Chardonnay and 18% Pinot Meunier and boasts an attractive and captivating aroma of dried fruits, pastry, lemon oil, marzipan, spring flowers and ginger, with hints of almond and vanilla notes that become more pronounced over time. This medium to full-bodied wine is precise and well-structured, with a fleshy core of fruit and a sapid, incisive finish. Crafted around the 2015 vintage, the blend comprises 131 reserve wines from as far back as 2000 (42% of the total blend) and is expected to age beautifully over the next decade.
