Château Pichon-Longueville Lalande is one of the most important Super Seconds and this 2ème Cru Classé Pauillac estate has made tremendous strides in the last 20 years. This is largely due to the energy, drive and ambition of May-Eliane de Lenquesaing, who took over the property in 1978.

Nicolas was born in 1974 and has been living in Bordeaux for 25 years. He studied at the University of Oenology in Bordeaux with Professor Denis Dubourdieu and obtained a Master of Genetics applied to oenology.
He furthered his studies at the National Agronomic School of Montpellier to become an engineer in viticulture and winemaker. Nicolas began his career at Château Haut-Brion in 2005 and Château Margaux in 2006.
In 2012, he became the general manager and winemaker at Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande (Pauillac) and Château de Pez (Saint-Estèphe), owned by Maison Louis Roederer.

Pichon-Longueville Lalande is not as powerful or as tannic as some its Pauillac neighbours and this is mainly because of its relatively high Merlot content. In the best years, it is one of the most exotic and voluptuously scented wines of the Médoc. At least a decade of cellaring is required before the wines should be approached.

酒莊種植 62% Cabernet Sauvignon， 28% Merlot ，7% Cabernet Franc 和 3% Petit Verdot ，儘管位於左岸，但昔日的女爵比較重視 Merlot，近年酒莊刻意將 Caberent Sauvignon 種植的比例提高，特別因為 Caberent Sauvignon 更適合在 gravel 的土壤生長。Pichon Lalande 近年發展了一套更靈活的採收方法，在 2010 年，酒莊採收時間一般都在 10 到 14 天的相當短的時間內完成。直到今天，酒莊會用上長達 4 至 5 週進行採收，而且每年採收動用過百人以上。當然，這種非常靈活按逐小地塊分階段採收方法相當花時間和成本，但經過嚴格篩選令到採收的葡萄達至最佳的成熟度，而且在釀酒過程用上更小的發酵罐進行發酵，再按照不同風土條件的地塊作最後混調，這是當今波爾多更精新和準確的微釀造方式與上一代相比最大的變化之一，令葡萄酒品質進一步提高。
