Absolut Vodka

Forbes magazine, with its annual ranking of the world's richest people, is a respected authority in the business world. At the end of last year, Forbes released its 2002 luxury brand rankings. Absolut Vodka, the internationally renowned premium spirits brand, dominated the list.

Over a hundred years ago, there was a Swede named Lars Olsson Smith. He became a successful businessman at the age of 10, a successful entrepreneur at 14, and controlled one-third of the Swedish vodka market before he even learned to shave. For more than 50 years in the 1850s, he was known as the "King of Vodka."

In 1879, Lars Olsson Smith created a new type of vodka, called "Absolut Rent Branvin" (Absolut Rent Branvin), using a completely new process known as continuous distillation, which Absolut still uses today.

After Lars Olsson Smith's death, his patented technology and keen business acumen lived on. In the 1970s, Lars Lindmark took over the reins of the Swedish Wine Company. As president of the Swedish Wine Company, he began to transform the acclaimed company.

In 1979, on the 100th anniversary of Abosult Rent Branvin, Lindmark decided to export a new vodka, Absolute Pure Vodka. This became the century-old Absolute Vodka, considered the finest vodka produced by modern distilling techniques.
