Cardhu distillery – previously called Cardow – must be one of the best-located distilleries in Speyside: high on the hills on the north side of the Spey Valley with delightful views to the south. Though they take their name from the Gaelic for Black Rock, the malts of Cardhu have a warmth and cleanliness of taste, often described as silky, making them both elegant and approachable. Perfect for toasting, celebrating and sharing with old and new friends.

One of Cardhu distillery's flagship bottlings this 18 year old Speyside Scotch whisky is a great example of their output. At an ABV (alcohol by volume) of 40% - close to the minimum strength that whisky can be bottled - and therefore to be considered a "standard" strength whisky. A well-aged Cardhu, this 18 year old Speyside single malt retains its characteristic gentle nature allied with greater complexity and richness.

Nose 

Cakey vanilla, caramelised fruit, a hint of new leather.

Palate 

Quite chocolatey on the palate, with notes of pear and citrus never far away.

Finish 

Drying oaky spices and another hint of dark chocolate.
