There is a saying in Burgundy: "No one with the last name Noellat doesn't know how to make wine."
The Noellat family was one of the most prominent wine families in Burgundy in the last century. The soul of the family, Charles Noellat, passed away in 1939. The family managed the vineyards according to his philosophy, and because of their way of producing high-quality grapes, they were favored by Lalau and Henri Jayer, so Charles Noellat was also one of the enlightenment teachers of the god of wine Henri Jayer. Part of the winery's land was inherited by Domaine Hudelot-Noellat and Domaine J.J. Confuron in the family. In 1988, in order to raise funds to purchase the excellent vineyard of Noellat Winery, Ms. Leory sold part of her shares to Japan's Takashimaya Group in exchange for her ideal vineyard. As a result, Charles Noellat sold his flagship grand cru vineyard to Domaine Leroy, laying the foundation for Domaine Leroy's unshakable position in the village of Vosne-Romanee today.
Today, Noellat is still one of the famous names in the Burgundy wine industry that cannot be ignored. His descendants Georges Noellat and Michel Noellat are also well-known wineries in Burgundy. Charles Noellat's family still retains the right to use his name and wine label. Since 2013, Charles Noellat's great-grandson Stephan Moreau has taken over the management and transformed it into a wine merchant model, Maison Charles Noellat. He is committed to discovering the private collections of Burgundy winemakers deep in the wine cellars, especially purchasing their private collections of old vintages. Stephan Moreau redefined Charles Noellat, and these good vintage wines that have been matured in the underground cellars for many years have also received due appreciation and reputation through the Charles Noellat brand, allowing the world to continue to witness the golden signboard of Charles Noellat's inheritance of historical glory. Old vintages of this estate usually appear sporadically on the market. Due to the small quantity, it is difficult to get hold of them. This time, we had the rare opportunity to get a batch (in small quantity). For those Burgundy wine lovers who like traditional wines, I wish you would miss it!
