Chateau Doisy-Vedrines is a winery that is located in Barsac of the Gironde. The AOC Barsac were classified as second in the Grand Cru in official classificicazione wine of Bordeaux since 1855. In 1855, the three Doisy chateaux (Chateau Doisy Daëne, Château Doisy-Dubroca and Chateau Doisy-Védrines) were one. The name of Védrines was given to the chateau in honor of the Knights of Védrines, owners of the domain until 1846. Since the mid-nineteenth century, is the family Castéja buy the chateau. With thirty acres of vineyards, this area is the largest area of 3 chateaux Barsac whose name contains "Doisy" (Daëne, Dubroca and Védrines).

Very textured, this is a complex wine. There is a strong sense of minerality here, along with flavors of ripe apricots, peaches and grapes. The texture is zesty and tangy, showing some taut, nervy acidity. This is a wine for serious aging so don't drink before 2017.

A very ripe and broad style, with intense pineapple, passion fruit and mango notes, featuring a broad finish that takes on a toasted almond frame and a light accent of spiced nutmeg. For fans of the bigger style. Best from 2015 through 2030.

The Doisy-Vedrines has a refined bouquet of lemon curd, dried honey and just a touch of quince, perhaps not quite as rich as recent vintages, but very well-defined. The palate is well-balanced, with a touch of lime cordial and passion fruit on the entry, and zesty acidity and impressive precision towards the taut, slightly spicy rich finish. Returning after an hour, this sample has enhanced clarity and volume, and subsequent encounters confirm a very promising Doisy-Vedrines.

Delicate and pure nose with peach, mandarin and white flowers. Even some chalky mineral notes and orange blossom. This pretty dessert wine is medium sweet with a charming texture and fruit on the palate. Nicely balanced with a silky finish. Drink from 2015.
🏅Vinous 90-93 pts
Medium-deep yellow-gold. Intense aromas of apricot, pear, peach and white flowers complicated by a touch of spicy oak. Clean, fresh and full on the palate, with enticing flavors of ripe pear, citrus and honey and a lingering peppery papaya finish. Offers sneaky concentration, and the hint of honeyed botrytis at the back adds further complexity. This strikes me as one of the more refined young versions of Doisy-Vedrines in a long time, though the wine's telltale texture and structure are still very much in evidence.
🏅Decanter 18/20 pts
Big body, rich texture, built for long ageing, with a completely different style from Daëne: less immediate purity, more power. Two different visions of terroir but nobody would complain to try both. Drink 2020-2040.
