Denis Dubourdieu and his wife Florence are both from old families of Bordeaux winegrowers.

They manage with their two sons, Fabrice and Jean-Jacques, a set of domains, of a surface of 135 hectares, in the region of Sauternes, Graves and Cadillac-Côtes de Bordeaux.

The Clos Floridène, in Pujols sur Ciron, in the Graves, has been gradually constituted by Denis and Florence Dubourdieu since 1982, thanks to successive purchases of plots, located on the best vineyards. The name of the vintage is also forged thanks to the two names of its founders.

From a geological point of view, the terroir of Clos Floridène here looks very much like that of Barsac. A thin layer of clayey sands rich in iron oxide, "the red sands of the Barsacais", covers the limestone subsoil. This rocky slab limits the rooting depth of the vine to about 50 cm. During the summer, the finely porous limestone restores to the vine the water it soaked during the winter, avoiding excessive water stress. A small part of the vineyard of Clos Floridene (3.1 hectares), in the town of Illats, occupies a clay-gravel rump.

The mature harvest, picked by hand,undergoes 20 to 25 days of regulated vatting at 30 ° C. The aging for 12 monthsis carried out in oak barrels of which a third is new.

The Clos Floridène Rouge is an original winestrongly marked by an unusual association in Bordeaux, Cabernet Sauvignon onlimestone. In a bright and intense color, it has an aroma of cassis, wildstrawberry, with notes of mint, licorice and smoke. Its fruity and tannicflavors are powerful, silky and fresh
