The Herbert-Pechon family has been settled in the small town of Rilly-La-Montagne since 1920, and at the beginning the family focused exclusively on the vineyards it owned on both the Rilly-La-Montagne and Ludes sides of the border.The first vintage of Champagne was released in 1959, following the separation of Fernand Herbert, husband of family member Simone Pechon, who was also president of the Rilly-La-Montagne cooperative from 1973 to 1987.

Fernand Herbert continued to make wine for the estate for almost 20 years before selling part of the vineyards and the property at 32 Reue de Reims to his son Didier in 1982, and thanks to the high quality of his father's wines and Didier's marketing skills, the estate's sales have nearly doubled.Since 2023, the winery has been run by family member Thomas Herbert and his partner Marie-Charlotte. They are passionate about their work and, with their experience, they have managed the 6 hectares of vineyards in such a way that the winery has been able to maintain a steady flow of quality products.

The 6 hectares of vineyards are divided into 30 plots in 5 Premier Cru and 2 Grand Cru vineyards such as Rilly-La-Montagne, Ludes, Trois-Puits, Mailly-Champagne and Verzenay. The diversity of terroirs presented by the 30 plots ensures the consistency of the wines produced by the winery, complexity and individuality of the wines produced by the winery.
