Boislauzon Chateauneuf du Pape Quet 2001《ZTF250》
Founded in 1334, Mas de Boislauzon is currently run by the sixth generation of the family. A darling of major international wine critics and magazines, Robert Parker and Jancis Robinson have called Mas de Boislauzon a jewel of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape region. Decanter also praised the estate's 2015 Châteauneuf-du-Pape, calling it "exciting." Both its Cuvée du Quet (2007 and 2010) received full scores from Robert Parker.
The Mas de Boislauzon estate is located at the northernmost tip of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, encompassing 9 hectares in Châteauneuf-du-Pape and 15 hectares in the Côtes du Rhône villages. The vineyards are built on clay-limestone soils with abundant pebbles, typical of CNDP, with a Grenache-dominated blend. The majority of the vines are over 50 to 80 years old.
The flagship wine, Quet (Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Reserve), is sourced from three small plots, all over 80 years old. Prior to 2006, the blend was typically 65% Grenache and 35% Mourvedre. However, in 2007, this was changed to 80% Grenache. The winery does not destem, and alcoholic fermentation takes place in traditional cement vats. Generally, different grape varieties are fermented separately, but sometimes Grenache and Mourvedre are fermented together in the same vat. Depending on the variety, the wine is aged in tanks and small oak barrels.

This estate is located in the northern portion of the AOC, with most plots consisting of sandy, pebble strewn soils, and the wines are made by Daniel Chaussy. The 2001 Mas de Boislauzon Cuvée du Quet, a blend of 80% Grenache, 20% Mourvèdre (60+ year-old-vines) that’s aged in a combination of tank and small barrel, is an outstanding, noteworthy effort that displays an almost cool climate bouquet of black olive and tapenade like notes intermixed with deep black fruits, tobacco, and meaty nuances on the nose. The palate shines as well and is medium+ bodied with good ripeness, solid concentration and structure, and a mineral-laced, long finish. Absolutely delicious, with a good mix of hedonism and intellectual complexity, this should continue to evolve over the next 2-4 years, drinking well through 2020.

Full red-ruby color. Captivating aromas of crushedblackberry, licorice, herbs, dried flowers, tree bark, resin and pepper; showing its mourvedre side today. Sappy, lively and dense, with tangy flavors of raw berries, tree bark, pepper, leather and minerals. Very distinct, silkyChateauneuf. This really clings to the palate and lingers.
