Emilio Moro, a winery that Wine Advocate describes as “one of the best in the Ribera del Duero.” Not only is it synonymous with boutique wines, but it is an artist who makes stunning Tempranillo. More than just a boutique winery, it's an artist who makes a stunning Tempranillo, and Wine Advocate honored Moro as “the shining star of the Ribera del Duero,” and in Wine Spectaor's 2017 edition, his Emilio Moro made the Top 100 list, and Wine Enthusiast recognized it as “one of the best wineries in the Ribera del Duero”. Wine Enthusiast even nominated Emilio Moro as the “Best Winery in Europe”, and it was also the only Spanish winery to be selected that year. Although it ultimately lost to Ferrari, the representative of Italy, and didn't have a chance to become the best winery of the year in Europe, it was able to be selected as one of the final four wineries in Europe, so its strength is beyond doubt. Decanter has selected the best 12 wines from the Ribera del Duero in Spain, and Moro's Malleolus de Sanchomartin 2010 won the first place among the 12 wines with a high score of 19.5 points, which pushed Moro into the top tier of the Ribera del Duero, as the competitors were all first-tier wineries, such as Aalto, Aalto and Aalto, and also the top tier of the Ribera del Duero. El Zarzal is made from Godello, an ancient indigenous grape variety from the Bierzo region, which was nearly wiped out in Spain in the 1970's when plantings in the region dwindled to a few hundred vines. Horacio Fernandez and Louis Hidalgo joined forces to create the “Godello Revival” program, and through their efforts, the variety was finally revived in Spain. The Godello vineyards, located on slopes more than 600 meters above sea level, are hand-picked, fermented at controlled temperatures, and aged in large wooden barrels called “Fudres” for 8 months while preserving the yeasts. The wine was only vinified in 2016 and has received excellent reviews from all the major rating agencies since its release, with Wine Advocate scoring it at 89 pts, Wine Spectator at 91 pts and James Suckling at 93 pts.

Zarzal is fermented in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures and then aged in French oak barrels, which rounds out the wine and extends its optimal drinking time.
