OVERVIEW

Esprit de Gloria is the second wine of Château Gloria. Château Gloria is not classified, for the simple reason that the château did not exist in 1855. However, this estate is unique in that it has been built up piece by piece over several years through the purchase of parcels, the majority of which belonged to Grands Crusclassified in 1855. Esprit de Gloria is produced from the youngest vines on the estate and from a selection of plots on the property. It benefits of the same care given to the Grand Vin. It is a wine that reflects the typical characteristics of the Saint-Julien appellation and can be enjoyed earlier.

Surface: 50 hectares

Location: A vineyard distributed over three zones: in the centre of Beychevelle, to the west and to the north of the appellation (bordering Pauillac).

Average age of the vineyard: 25 years

Grape varieties: 65% Cabernet Sauvignon / 25% Merlot / 5% Cabernet Franc / 5% Petit Verdot

BLEND 57% Cabernet Sauvignon / 35% Merlot / 8% Petit Verdot

MAKING PROCESS

Manual harvest. Classical vinification in thermo-regulated stainless steel vats. Vinified and aged with the same care and attention required for the other Domaines Martin wines.

TASTING NOTE

Beautiful intense garnet color. The nose is subtle, fruity and elegant. In the mouth, the wine is round, balanced and supple. The tannins are melted and silky. Nice persistence in the finish.

MATCHING FOOD

Serve at 17-18°C with grilled skewered lamb or Bordeaux style beef rib steak, along with pan-fried potatoes and mushrooms. This wine will be the perfect partner for terrines of rabbit or Foie Gras, or a good selection of cheeses.

A wonderful, harmonious bouquet of copious blackberry, briary, cedar and tobacco notes that just feels so effortless. The very harmonious palate offers pure black fruit laced with graphite. Displaying moderate weight and fine acidity, and quite linear and focused on the finish.
