🌟 One of Scotland's best-selling single malt whisky brands
🌟 Custom-made oak barrels
Glenmorangie is located in Tain in the Highlands region of Scotland, UK. It is now owned by the Louis Vuitton-Moet Hennessy Group (hereinafter referred to as LVMH). It is one of Scotland's best-selling single malt whiskey brands.
Glenmorangie was founded in 1843 by William Matheson, but the distillery did not begin production until 1849. William has extensive experience in brewing, and under his leadership, the distillery has developed rapidly. In 1880, Glenmorangie began export sales and became a huge success. In 1887, Glenmorangie Distillery Co. Ltd. acquired Glenmorangie. In 1918, 40% of Glenmorangie shares were sold to Macdonald & Muir Ltd., the largest customer of Glenmorangie Distillery Co., Ltd., and the remaining 60% shares were sold to Durham, a whiskey trading company. (Durham) Acquisition. Soon after, Macdonald Muir Ltd. acquired all of Glenmorangie's shares. In 1931, under the combined pressure of the Great Depression and Prohibition, the distillery was forced to close. It was not until 1936 that the distillery began to resume production. However, due to the shortage of fuel and barley during World War II, the distillery was closed again from 1941 to 1944. Since then, the winery has never stopped production and entered a stage of steady development. In 2004, Macdonald Muir Limited transferred Glenmorangie to the LVMH Group. Under the leadership of LVMH Group, Glenmorangie's production scale has continued to grow and become more competitive.
The word "Glenmorangie" means "quiet valley" in Scottish Gaelic, and the leisurely and meticulous brewing process at Glenmorangie Distillery also confirms this meaning. The Glenmorangie distillery is equipped with eight pot stills, four of which are 12,500 liter wash stills and the other four are 8,000 liter spirit stills. The winery is made by a team led by Dr Bill Lumsden, affectionately known as The Men of Tain. The people of Tyne would draw water from the Tarlogie Spring above Glenmorangie. The rich mineral content of Tarlogie Spring gives Glenmorangie whiskey its distinctive flavor. In addition, Glenmorangie has the tallest still in Scotland, which is 7.9 meters high. Only the purest steam can reach the top of the still and flow back along the neck, so the distilled liquor tastes very smooth. It is worth mentioning that the oak barrels used for aging Glenmorangie whiskey are all custom-made and made from the distillery’s own oak grown in the forests of the Ozark Mountains in the United States. The distillery will first let the new barrels sit idle for two years, then lend them to Jack Daniel's and Heaven Hill for aging Bourbon Whiskey. Glenmorangie then uses these oak barrels to age its own whiskey. In addition to being aged in Bourbon Cask, some Glenmorangie wines also need to be transferred to Port Cask, Sherry Cask or French Sauternes Cask. , for more flavor. Glenmorangie has a total of 14 earthen warehouses where oak barrels are placed, which is one of the reasons why Glenmorangie whiskey has a unique flavor. In addition, Glenmorangie distillery does not bottle independently, and the bottling of whiskey is handled by professional bottling plants.
Glenmorangie The Accord Bourbon & Sherry Cask 12 Year Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky is based on the classic ten-year quality of the wine, and then the barrel is changed to a specially customized Oloroso oak barrel and the top PX Sherry barrel as the final cellar aging. The new Glenmorangie 12-year-old Sherry Cask Flavor process uses two different Sherry barrels for cellar aging. First, the Spanish Oloroso Sherry custom barrel is used, which is the source of the nutty aroma, wood flavor and toffee flavor. In addition, PX Sherry barrels are also used to show the soft and deep flavor of this wine.
The taste is smooth and mellow, and the layers are richer and more delicate. The sweet toffee and dried fruit flavors imparted by the Oloroso sherry casks are perfectly blended with the sweet candied fruit flavors of the PX sherry casks. The Glenmorangie 12 Year Old Sherry Cask flavor is overall bright amber in color, revealing the aroma of chocolate, young ginger, molasses, candied dates and orange, showing a soft and round taste, followed by the rich aroma of Christmas cake and a lingering and long aftertaste.
