Chateau Boyd Cantenac is located in the wine-producing village of Margaux in the Medoc region of Bordeaux, France, and was classified as a third-class house in the 1855 Classification. Becatana Estates has always insisted on brewing elegant wines in the traditional style of the Margaux region, which are loved by many wine lovers.

Becatana Manor was founded in 1754 by Jacques Boyd, a descendant of Scottish immigrants. Jacques Bay combined his surname and the name of the village where the winery is located, Cantenac, to name the winery Boyd Cantenac, a name that continues to this day. In 1806, as a result of a marriage, the winery was transferred to the name of John Lewis Brown. After years of operation, the winery was rated a third-class in the 1855 classification.

In the early 20th century, Chateau Boyd Cantenac was acquired by the famous Ginestet family. The Genas family owned several wineries by then, including the famous Chateau Margaux. Later, the Genas family suffered an economic crisis and the Becatana Manor was sold to maintain its business. Then in 1932, Pierre Guillemet, the owner of Chateau Pouget, bought the estate. Since then, the Becatana estate has been managed by the Guillemet family for four generations, with Lucien Guillemet currently being the owner and head brewer.
