The origin of Château Grand-Puy Ducasse, aPauillac 5th Cru Classé, dates back to the 17th century when Arnaud Ducassebecame the owner of a small house on the banks of the River Garonne, boughtfrom Jacques de Ségur, Lord of Lafite. Four centuries later the little house isnow a magnificent stately home in the heart of Pauillac, with the buildingsarranged to evoke the forms of a monastery cloister. The selection of ChâteauGrand-Puy Ducasse, Le Cloître de Grand-Puy Ducasse, has the same ambitions asits elder brother. It serves as a good introduction to the first wine; it ismade with grapes from the estate’s younger vines and is matured for a shorterperiod, but with just as much care and attention. It benefits from all the expertiseof Anne Le Naour, the estate’s Technical Manager, who gets invaluable advicefrom the famous oenologist Denis Dubourdieu.

Vintage 2010 : The grapes are harvested at optimal maturity to give a wine with supple, silky tannins: the 2010 vintage releases notes of blackberry, redcurrant and raspberry. With a mellow woodiness, this vintage opens out onto a ver y fresh, elegant finish. A great success in a great vintage.
